A Distant Melody by S. Sundin {Contest & Book Tour}

Never pretty enough to please her gorgeous mother, Allie will do anything to gain her approval–even marry a man she doesn’t love.

Lt. Walter Novak–fearless in the cockpit but hopeless with women–takes his last furlough at home in California before being shipped overseas. Walt and Allie meet at a wedding and their love of music draws them together, prompting them to begin a correspondence that will change their lives.
As letters fly between Walt’s muddy bomber base in England and Allie’s mansion in an orange grove, their friendship binds them together. But can they untangle the secrets, commitments, and expectations that keep them apart?
A Distant Melody is the first book in the WINGS OF GLORY series, which follows the three Novak brothers, B-17 bomber pilots with the US Eighth Air Force stationed in England during World War II.

My Thoughts…

If you are into historical romantic fiction of all kinds, then I promise you’ll enjoy Sara Sudin’s  first book in her Wings of Glory series called “A Distant Melody”.  Based in the World War II era, Susan does a great job in attention to detail with  all the historical information that was added to make this story what it was.

I found this book very easy to follow and would’ve have read it in only a number of days if time permitted me. The characters in this story are very lovable and believable. I loved the depth of even the supporting characters which isn’t what I see often in many books.

I felt a deep emotional connection with this book because I grew up watching WWII romantic movies on AMC with my mom and sisters. This definitely brought back a flood of memories. I appreciated the mention of God in the story and the fact you weren’t smothered with it throughout the entire book as I’ve seen before.

I found my self on the edge of my seat throughout this book wondering what would happen next. In other words, I really enjoyed it and I quite look forward to reading the second book in the series A Memory Between Us.
