When I think of Scholastics, I think of great quality  products. I was home schooled when I was younger and I recall every month my sisters and I were able to pick out several books from a Scholastic guide that came in the mail to our home. I to this day can recall so many wonderful titles that I read over and over again. A few of the books we purchased  taught me the fundamentals of drawing helping me to become the artist that I am today! I’m excited now as I have a family of my own and was given opportunity to bring the wonderful world of Scholastic’s into my own home to share with my children.Treasury-100StoriesSSTDVD-NS

The collections from Scholastic’s that  I would like to tell you about  include the Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics & Chicka Chicka in storybook DVD format!

The Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics is a fantastic DVD collection featuring many loved stories like Curious George, Harry and His Purple Crayon, Where The Wild Things Are, Chicken Little, and many more!  I’m sure with the recent release of  “Where The Wild Things Are” movie out in theaters, that seeing the very first animated production would be welcomed be quite welcomed. In light of Where the Wild Things Are, there is also a special behind-the-scenes author interview with Maurice Sendak!

Known actors such as James Earl Jones, Danny Glover, Chevy Chase, Meryl Streep, and many more have lent their voices to narrate this fantastic collection! I recognized right away when watching the “Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type…and more amusing animal tales” Randy Travis’s narration. He did a superb job bringing these fun barn yard tales to life!  I would definitely say the narrators for each of the stories chosen was a perfect fit!

In this collection, you’ll find 16 DVD’s most with 7 stories on each themed DVD. When I say themed for example the Harry and the Dirty Dog story book DVD features six stories all about dogs!  In addition, Scholastic’s innovative read-along function on each story highlights the words as they’re read, allowing children to follow the narrator, supporting early literacy skills and encouraging a love of reading. You can choose the option of picking what story you want played or you can take advantage of the play all feature.  Other additions include 15 stories in Spanish and the French version of Where the Wild Things Are. Each DVD runs from 60-80 minutes making the whole collection about 20 hours of fun family entertainment!

I almost forgot to mention that this set also includes a 15 page activity booklet for the kids. Inside this booklet your child will find fun coloring sheets of characters from several of the stories, connecting the dots, and many more fun activities!Chicka2pkSSTDVD-NS
