I’m sure most people know that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This one month of the year is set apart to honor those women who have fought this cancer, continue to fight cancer, and those who survive to tell of the healing in their lives.
Most everyone I know has been affected by cancer in one way or another and it pains me to know it such a common disease now. My aunt was greatly affected by breast cancer and my grandmother also had a form of cancer on my dad’s side so I feel a great need to do everything that I can to help support National Breast Cancer Awareness and those among us that are fighting for a cure against this horrible disease.
Pink Together is an online community that was put together to support women and men who have survived cancer, continue to fight this battle, and those who have been impacted by breast cancer in some way.
If you’d like to help show your support, you can…
- Post a comment of encouragement to one or more of the women who’ve shared their story on Pink Together
- Send a virtual flower bouquet (free of charge) to one of the survivors
If you are a breast cancer survivor and would like to share your story to encourage other women who visit the site, please click on the ‘Share Your Story’ tab.
To support this campaign, General Mills has offered to donate 1$ (up to a total of 20,000$) for each comment posted, each virtual bouquet sent and each story shared.(Till October 31,2009) In addition to this, they are also donating 2 million$ to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Win it: As a part of this campaign, My Blog Spark and Pink Together sent me an ‘Inspiring Hope’ gift pack that includes a fantastic sleeved travel mug, a running ribbon charm bracelet, a pink leather strap key chain, a pink cinch bag and a set of inspirational note cards.
They have also offered to gift one of my readers this same gift pack.
