Safety Caps Review and Giveaway

My daughter pokes around at everything she sees and also puts everything in her mouth. I don’t blame her, the world is a pretty interesting place but it’s also a very dangerous place for children.  As a parent, I’m out to find anything to help keep my daughter safe, as life is so precious.

I’m sure if you are a parent or if you are around any young children you’ve noticed those outlet plug covers that all parents buy to “childproof” their homes. Yes, I’ve bought them.  These are mainly used  to prevent the chance of electrical shock. A few weeks ago, I  learned from the company Safety Caps,  that they are potential choking hazards!

George Decell, the company founder,  had a terrifying experience when his one year old daughter Sage, got a hold of an outlet plug-in cover and nearly suffocated to death until he was able to revive her. I imagine, this to have been a horrible moment that no parent should ever go through. After this happened he contacted the safety industry and they did nothing about it! So with keeping the safety of all children in mind, he designed his own based upon a similar design but he made them bigger and added two vent holes on each side. You may wonder why the two holes, I wondered the same thing. Basically, the two vent holes  meet the safety requirements of a pacifier and what this means that if your child puts this in their mouth, it will not block their air flow!  You can see the safety tests here.

Unfortunately, lots of companies are refusing to see the the hazard of standard plug outlets even though hospitals and many people are saying otherwise. We are looking for other bloggers to review and blog about SafetyCaps, so if you’re interested please email george@safetycaps.com.
