How I find these creatures so interesting. What possessed me to write a bit about these animals was a special on the Discovery Channel called “Wild Discovery Venom Nine Ways to Die”. Hah! I find the animal kingdom fascinating and also I like to know what might happens if I so accidently over step the bounds between our habitat and theirs.
I learned today that these funny looking animals can in fact be lethal killers. They have sharp stingers on the heels of their rear feet and can use them to deliver a strong toxic blow to any foe. It makes since, most animals naturally are built with a means to defend themselves if trouble occurs.
I first as a young child learned about Platypuses in a book called Rabbit and His Friends, a Golden Book written by Richard Scary. This a book I hope to one day share with my own children. I love the classic stories of Golden Books and adore the works of Richard Scary who once said about his works:
I’m not interested in creating a book that is read once and then placed on the shelf and forgotten. I am very happy when people have worn out my books, or that they’re held together by Scotch tape.
Amen to that! We should also strive as believers/Christians to make that mark on the world around us. Let’s not let our legacy be forgotten and let’s do our best to encourage and raise up the generation that’s going on ahead of us.
I wanted to mention the lady who had given my family a huge amount of Golden books that her daughter had grown out of. May she rest in peace as she was dear sweet lady and a wonderful neighbor. Her gift introduced a whole new world of reading to my oldest sister and I.
