Super Skivvies | Convertible Trainers {Review}
Super Skivvy is a store I came across on Etsy while searching for potty training panties for my daughter. Super Skivvy’s are a great solution to have on hand instead of purchasing disposable commercial training pants and are much cuter if I do say so myself.
My daughter is not quite potty trained yet. A lot of life changing things happened and when we were one step ahead we fell two steps back. The first was moving and the second is when I became pregnant with my second child. It’s been quite the challenge over here as we are trying to get her trained.
Super Skivvies feature one layer of soft cotton knit, an organic bamboo rayon velour liner in the crotch area, cotton interlock waist and thigh bands, and no-roll elastic encased in the waist. Included is a removable insert consisting of three layers organic bamboo rayon fleece. I found these to be super soft!
I’m crossing my fingers that cute training panties are going to push her in the right direction like the pair I was blessed to review from Super Skivvy. These training pants are basically like underwear but a little thicker with enough padding to save you from one accident. With that being said, these aren’t waterproof, believe me I found out in more than one way. The padding in these panties is also removable meaning you can switch from regular panties to trainer super easy! I really like that concept!
When getting closer to being fully trained it might be a great idea to some of the super inserts that are reasonably priced five for four dollars. I can’t help but think what a good idea it would be to have for day trips and over the span of the night to help prevent unwanted accidents.
Want to know more about the mom behind Super Skivvies in her own words? Read on!
1. Why did you decide to start doing this on Etsy and how long have you been?
I opened Super Skivvies on Etsy at the end of April, 2010; however, I did not begin to actually list Skivvies to sell until the end of July 2010. Previously, I was selling on a smaller, cloth diaper-minded market called HyenaCart.com. I decided to move over to Etsy because it has a MUCH larger customer base and is much better known to people who might not be shopping specifically for cloth diapers and accessories.
2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?
As a small child, I remember developing a love for crafting and creating things. When I am buying fabrics, I get excited because I know I am bringing a little fun into something that maybe isn’t as exciting to dive into (potty learning). When I am cutting the fabrics, I start seeing the best angles for photos, and I get to think about the best way to display them at shows or on product sheets. While sewing, I have a chance to sort of “zone out” and make little mental to-do lists, work out ideas for new products, and make business decisions that need time to be thought through. Overall, I love to watch each pair come together from start to finish.
3. Apart from creating things, what do you do?
First, and foremost, I am a mother to a beautiful three year old little girl. Aside from that, I am a partner to a wonderful man, full time Domestic Engineer, and part time nanny.
4. What inspires you?
My daughter. All parents want the best for their children, and I am no exception. I never want her to go without, and I don’t want her to worry about if her mommy has enough money. Sure, I can survive working as a nanny, but it’s not something I planned on as a career.
5. In five years you’d like to be…?
In five years, I will be a successful entrepreneur running my successful training pant and adult incontinence product company full time. I have a lot of ideas for products to add to the Super Skivvies name, and I’d like to have my top three ideas released by then.
-BUY IT-
Super Skivvies run in sizes 1t to 5t are available in styles great for both boys and girls. You can purchase a Super Skivvy for $18 each.
**Disclaimer: The product/s mentioned above will be given to me free of charge from the company or PR firm in exchange for being featured on Connected2Christ.
Holiday Gift Guide: Girl Gotch Review and Giveaway!

I’ve just begun the venture of potty training my 18 month old daughter and off the bat didn’t think twice about the kind of underwear I purchased for her. I noticed shortly after purchasing a pack of fun character panties from my local retail store that as my daughter was running through our home, she stopped and pulled out her first wedgie! Sure, I giggled and thought it was kind of cute but then I realized the unacceptable annoyance this would continually cause in her life.
Wedgies are no fun to live with, and we shouldn’t have to settle with accepting them, especially when it comes to searching for comfortable panties for our children! Canadian designer of Girl Gotch, Rebecca, realized this as well and after encountering this issue firsthand, went to work on creating a comfortable pair of panties thus Girl Gotch was born!
My Thoughts…
I was sent both styles brief and boxer of Girl Gotch underwear to review on my daughter. I just loved the packaging that each set came in! The box has a see through top and closes shut with built in magnet. These are the perfect size to store the panties in and fit great into my daughters dresser drawer! Each style comes in a set of three and ranges in sizes from 2-6. I was so surprised the size 2 fit my daughter as she’s such a tiny little petite thing but was really happy it did.
I don’t favor one style more than the other because they are both great in their own ways.
The first style I’d like to talk about is the fitted boxer brief style! This style is so adorable and works great under skirts and dresses. I’m always dressing my daughter in sweet little skirts and dresses so I know I’m going to get a lot of uses out of this style! Word of advice, be sure to let your husband and whomever may be caring for your child other than yourself know that the gotch is totally an undergarment and not short shorts!
The brief style is a true classic and just too cute. They are available in colors of teal, pink, and purple as well as white but more colors will be added soon! I can totally see myself letting my daughter run around in nothing but these adorable briefs throughout the hot Summer season. Trust me, when you live in a 3rd floor apartment with no A/C you’d not be running around in too much either.
I found Girl Gotch’s styles, comfortable for my daughter, incredibly soft, and they have been holding up extremely well in the wash ( which is a plus when constantly having accidents during potty training). I will definitely be purchasing more of these soon! And with the Holiday season among us, I think these would make fantastic stocking stuffers for the special little girl in your life!
