DVD Review: VeggieTales: Robin Good and his Not-So-Merry Men
We completely love Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men. As a mother of two young children, I am always looking for great ways to share the love of God and to teach children important life character traits & values.
In this latest installment, the Veggie Tale characters share not one but two stories that demonstrate to children how to deal with their feelings if they are hurt or disappointed. I enjoyed the stories myself and quite liked that in the bonus features section, there is a Guide to Handling Hurt which gives suggestions, Biblical scripture verses, and opens the doors to discussing what may be going on in their life or if they see a friend that may be hurting.
As with all Veggie Tale movies, there’s lots of humor, the characters can be silly but also serious when called for. There’s many songs that are sung through out some super silly and others very meaningful. My daughter age 3 1/2 and son age 14 months enjoyed watching both the features and all the bonus content such as spotlighting children and their group leader doing what they could to raise water to build a well for children that didn’t have clean water.
Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men is about 50 minutes long. There are English and Spanish speaking options as well as wide or full screen for viewing. A great story with a Biblical message. This DVD does and excellent job in making clear that “There’s no hurt too big for God”. And really, “What more could you ask for?

Review and Giveaway: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: The Friendship Express DVD

I haven’t met a little girl that didn’t love horses, unicorns, and especially sweet little ponies. When I was a little girl I dreamed of having a horse and having such great adventures! The horse in my dreams was majestic, knew me perfectly, and we were completey inseparable. I still love horse and I am happy to see this love also forming in my three year old daughter who has recently discovered the magical world of unicorns and other horse friends in My Little Pony ( a newer version of the show I used to watch myself as a child)!

There are five episodes included on this two hour collection featuring magical stories focused on the importance of friendship. Episode titles include; Friendship is Magic part 1, Friendship is Magic part 2, Over a Barrel, Hearth’s Warming Eve and The Last Roundup. My daughter loves her friends and is always talking about them. I appreciate titles such as this one that encourage and display characteristics we all should take to heart to be a good friend!

The action packed franchise is back with the next generation of Spy Kids! Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) has it all: married to a famous spy-hunting television reporter (Joel McHale), with a new baby and intelligent twin step kids, Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook). When maniacal Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven) disrupts her domestic bliss–threatening to take over the planet–Marissa comes out of retirement as a top secret agent. With Armageddon quickly approaching, Rebecca and Cecil are thrust into action! With a little help from some familiar Spy Kids friends, Carmen (Alexa Vega), Juni (Daryl Sabara), and their faithful dog Argonaut (Ricky Gervais) and some mind-blowing gadgets, they just may be able to save the world!
My review:
After having already seen the first three Spy Kids movies prior Spy Kids 4 “All the Time in the World” I’ll have to say I was very impressed with this film! You’ll be taken on a family friendly adventure full of time traveling and saving the world action.
I loved the story behind this one. It challenges it’s viewers to take time to spend with our family. In our society it seems like we are all tied up in this and that. At the end of our days we are too worn out and end up missing out on those important moments to share with the ones we love. We are taught we can’t go back and change things but a fresh start can happen now.
My 3 1/2 year old daughter was quite taken with the film. She thought it was really cool that kids were getting the chance to save the world. And she kept pointing out the she and her little brother could be like the kids in the film. I wouldn’t put being a spy past her, she’s one smart cookie! She really liked all the neat spy gear too!
If you have a Blu-Ray DVD player, you can also watch the flick in 3D! I can’t share my thoughts on this part since we don’t have a Blu-ray player but I’m sure it’s pretty awesome ! Total run time of the movie is 88 minutes and extra features that are included are cast interviews, deleted scenes, a Spy Kid feature, and more!
I highly recommend the Spy Kids: All the Time in the World DVD. I am sure any kid would love to find this in their stocking or under the tree this Holiday season!
