Review & Giveaway: Sid The Science Kid- Sid’s Spooky Halloween

Halloween sometimes can be pretty scary for some children but it doesn’t have to be! Sid the Science Kid’s Halloween special DVD sheds light on things that can often be scary such as skeletons and spiders and shows kids how those things aren’t so scary yet helpful by explaining them scientifically!

We are big fans of Sid the Science Kid over here. If you haven’t heard of it, you should know that Sid is a show geared toward Preschoolers that teaches children basic scientific principles and demonstrates why things work the way they do in a fun engaging way!

Sid the Science Kid: Spooky Halloween DVD is a must have watch for the month of October, especially if your little ones seem a little unsure about all the Halloween festivities that will be going on and of some of the spooky things that they’ve seen revolving around the holiday. Scientific terms and how things work are explained on a level that children ages three and up can understand through story and fun memorable songs!

My daughter age 4 1/2 and my son whom is nearly two both enjoyed this DVD. My daughter specifically told me she loved learning about bats and seeing how icky sticky goo can be made! As a parent, I really liked that they included a bonus episode all about being healthy and the emphasis about cleaning your teeth. We all know after Halloween kids will probably have quite a bit of sugar coated candies and being reminded that they should brush and floss is key!

Overall, I’d highly recommend Sid’s Spooky Halloween for any DVD collection whether for home or school use. Running time of the DVD is 45 minutes with bonus content. Note your child may be changing their minds about what Halloween costume they want to proudly wear after viewing this DVD!

Buy it: You can purchase Sid the Science Kid: Sid’s Spooky Halloween on Amazon.com right now for $6.99 and it’s eligible for free super saver shipping!

If you are looking for some fun projects and ideas of things to do during the month of October revolving around science, check out the PBS Sid the Science Kid page for useful content!

Review & Giveaway: Word World Kooky Spooky Halloween DVD

My kids ages 1 1/2 and 4 years old love Word World and I’m glad that they do! It’s a show that in my opinion demonstrates that learning to read can be fun! This show teaches children letter sounds, how to build words, rhyme, and much more! It’s pretty neat that it shows literally how letters come together to form words. Perfect for any child that learns visually.
The stories are cute and the characters completely love-able. Kids will be engaged with the stories and learn important early reading skills a long the way. I know mine have!
Autumn is finally here and Halloween is right around the corner! I’ve been using this time to find great quality children’s programming to present to my kids geared around this holiday! I was delighted to find out that Word World has a Halloween Special and was super excited to view it along side my kids!

Word World Kooky Spooky Halloween DVD features two episodes that makes the total runtime at about half an hour. Here’s a brief description below of the episodes:

A Kooky Spooky Halloween: The WordFriends get their share of scares the night before Halloween, when Pig sleep walks and everyone thinks he’s a ghost!

Sheep’s Halloween Costume: Sheep is making herself a super special fairy costume to wear for the big Halloween party. But what will she do when her WordFriends need pieces of her costume for their own use?

My daughter and son both enjoyed watching the Spooky Halloween Word World DVD. The stories were a lot of fun and I’d like how the kids were learning about more than just letters but about how they should share, be a good, friend, and not be afraid of things that might seems a little scary at first! I would highly recommend this collection and look forward to the next Holiday collection from Word World!
