HEXBUG Nano Halloween Fun!

Courtesy of MomSelect, I was able to recently host a Hexbug Halloween party to spotlight some of the latest offering in the Hex Bug world! These items include, the limited edition HEXBUG Nano Halloween Zombie bugs (retail at $9.99 each)! These bugs are really neat and come ready to gift in their own little coffin shaped packaging. They also have a removable exoskeleton that glows in the dark! Excellent offering as a fun gift and party favor prizes!

We also were sent several of the Habitat sets (retail at $29.99 each) from their glow in the dark Hexbug Nano line as well as HexBugs from the Galielo Collection (retail at $7.99 each). These sets take playing with the Hexbugs to completely different level! Children  have lots of fun  putting together multiple sets weaving in and out of places to make a really huge track that lights up in places they see fit! With the track sets the mixing things up and the reoccurring playtime factor is huge in prompting constructing in all sorts of new ways to play!

I’m usually not a fan of battery operated toys but these have won me over! These little bugs take batteries which are called Power Cells. And these batteries do last for quite a long time. We’ve had had HexBugs in our home since Easter and their batteries are still working without needing replaced. Though when you do, note that power cells are very affordable at 4.99 for a two pack and are very easy to install.

My own children and friends of our families children really loved playing with these toys and had a blast with all the great Hexbug Nano things we received for our 2011 Halloween Party! Nothing but a good time ensued and everyone is really enjoying all the Hexbug goodies thanks to Mommy Parties and Hexbug giving us the opportunity to promote and review these great toys. I’m sure most if not all of the children that took home habitats and Hexbugs of their very own will be adding more to their Christmas list for 2011 and letting all of their friends know about these fantastically fun toys!

If you are personally thinking about Christmas, keep in mind that HexBugs  would be a fun little toy to start collecting for kids of all ages preferably recommend for  ages 3 and up. What’s neat too is that included with each bug you purchase is a code in which the owner can register their bug online to learn  science and play fun games! Gotta love toys that are not only fun but educational too! Plus, they make great stocking stuffers! Hexbugs are available at major retailers nationwide and at www.hexbug.com

Review: Teeny Tiny and the Witch Woman…and more spooky Halloween stories

Halloween is almost upon us and we’ve been having fun reading and watching all sorts of spooky tales with the kids and without! Since my daughter is still pretty young we are keeping the really creepy and frightening stuff at bay until she is old enough not to become afraid of it. And with that being said we’ve been enjoying and would like to recommend the Scholastic Storybook Treasure DVD collections of Halloween stories!

What’s been in our DVD player for the past week has been Teeny Tiny and the Witch Woman…and more spooky Halloween stories! These stories are quite kid-friendly and teach children important character skills such as stories about self esteem and creativity. Not to forget to also mention how all the Scholastic Storybook Treasure DVDs help improve reading skills with the read along feature.

Stories in this collection…

TEENY-TINY AND THE WITCH WOMAN (Written by Barbara K. Walker, illustrated by Michael Foreman) A deliciously scary story about a boy who outsmarts an old witch-woman before she can cook him and his brothers for dinner.

THE BOY WITH TWO SHADOWS (Written by Margaret Mahy, illustrated by Jenny Williams) An unforgettable tale about the mayhem that takes place when you promise to help a witch.

LOS GATOS BLACK ON HALLOWEEN (Written by Marisa Montes, illustreated by Yuyi Morales, narrated by Maria Conchita Alonso) This lively poem introduces a spooky array of creatures and Spanish words to little niños. There is also a bonus interview with author of this tale!

WHAT’S UNDER MY BED? (Written and illustrated by James Stevenson) Mary Ann and Louie are convinced there is something scary under their beds–until Grandpa tells them a spooky tale from his youth.

KING OF THE CATS (Written and illustrated by Paul Galdone) As the gravedigger tells a story of seeing nine black cats carrying a coffin into the cemetery his cat’s eyes start to glow. Does his cat know something?

If you are interested in purchasing Teeny Tiny and the Witch Woman . . . and more spooky Halloween stories, it’s $6.99 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping at Amazon.com.
