Greenchild Creations OS Fitted Cloth Diaper {review + giveaway}

There’s a lot of reasons I choose to cloth diaper. Though this reason may not be the most important that there is, it’s up there. What reason may you ask? Well, it’s  but  because of all the cute patterned fabrics you can get cloth diapers in these days! Who really wants a boring old white or branded character diaper if you really don’t have to get one?

Speaking of cute cloth diapers, you should see the ones offered by Greenchild Creations! And how thrilled I am to be reviewing a one sized flannel fitted cloth diaper from there personally.

First off, this diaper is one sized! No need to measure your baby in any way. I like that because it saves time and there’s no need to purchase more diapers when my baby gets bigger! Believe me, I know those growth spurts seemingly come out of nowhere!

The design of this diaper has a flap that can be tucked in the pocket opening the diaper has. I love the pocket because I can stuff whatever liners I have into the diaper for day or night use. Now if your baby is wearing this overnight or on the go, I would recommend using a water-proof cover because the diaper itself is not waterproof. And with all that being said, I’ve been loving this diaper and we’ve had no leaks!

Also, I was sent this diaper with safety pins. I usually don’t use pins because I have this huge fear of accidentally poking my baby. But no worries, I used my Snappi with the diaper and it all stayed together great. And if you don’t want to use safety pins like me, snaps can be added to the diaper you may want to purchase upon request.

I asked Anne, creator behind Greenchild Creations for my review a few questions so you could get to know her better too! Here are the questions and answer.

1.Why did you decide to open shop and how long have you been? At much urging from friends, I decided to create the shop in 2009. Life was a little crazy at that point so I let the shop sit for awhile. After things calmed down a bit, the summer of 2010 I spent creating my diaper design and sending it out to friends in the US and Canada to test it out for me. After a few design modifications, I opened shop in Dec 2010. Then my mom made me the most adorable hedgehog pincushion that Christmas, and I convinced her to contribute to my shop. She makes the pincushions and will be making personalized crocheted snowflakes for Christmas.

2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?
I think the best part is being able to experiment with it all and see what happens. I love the sense of satisfaction I get from seeing a beautiful, useful finished product, knowing I created it.

3. Apart from creating things, what do you do? I stay at home with the most amazing little boy, readers can learn more about him here if they wish: http://thegreenchildchronicles.blogspot.com/2010/06/introduction.html And I spend a lot of time cooking; I love it! I am in process of writing a cookbook inspired by my little boy.

4. What inspires you? When I see a need or a want for something, I get inspired – whether it’s from a person, place, event, even nature!

5. In five years you’d like to be…? In 5 years I’d like to be doing much the same thing: sewing, making natural skin care products, and creating new recipes. I love what I do; creating beautiful, useable things makes me happy

Overall…We are thrilled to spread the word about Green Child Creations!  Many wonderful items are available in their Etsy store such as handmade soaps, pincushions, aprons, diapers (obviously), and balms! I encourage you to check it all out.

Organic Soft Shape Sorter by Dandelion {review}

I’m a mother that  is looking out for the best interest of my family and the earth around me. Those who know me know that  I cloth diaper my baby, make my own organic baby food, and try to use as many natural products as possible in my household.

Lately, I’ve been going through a lot of my daughter’s baby toys  to see if they are worthy to be passed along to her baby brother. A lot of the items were gifts or picked up at rummage sells, I’m not even sure what some of them are made out of and it’s frightened me after some research to find that some of these toys have even been recalled for small parts  that came loose that have led to choking and some even had lead paint. All the reason to replace many of the toys with those that are all natural because these toys will go in the mouth of my 7 month old teething baby boy.

I have a few favorite eco-conscious toy company which include Green Toys which has a fantastic line of toys but I was looking for something softer for my son and there products are made of harder plastic. While searching, I came across  a company called Dandelion, Earth Friendly Goods of which I found to have a fantastic selection of  organic baby & children toys!

A classic toy that I’m sure every parents has purchased for their children is a shape sorter. You know, those square shaped toys that have many random shape to push in and take out. They are a great developmental game, encouraging exploration and tactics. My daughter had one but I wasn’t entirely happy with it. It was hard to open and it had semi sharp edges which could potentially hurt a child if it was fall on. I often wonder what the companies who made these were thinking. I was happy to see that Dandelion had an alternative to a regular run of the mill shape sorter and pleased that I was able to review one!

The organic cotton soft shape sorter from Dandelion is an awesome toy and a must have for any infant! The soft material that the sorter is made out of is organic cotton and the inside filling is made from corn! This toy is super soft and it entirely machine washable. I can vouch that after several washes, this toy holds shape fantastically!

My son adores this toy! He really likes all the different shapes which are circle, square, triangle, and star. Each shape is fun to shake, rattle, crinkle and squeeze. Each shape has it’s own different texture and pattern too being made from organic velour, waffle weave, terry and canvas.These are totally safe and won’t hurt tender gums that babies have when teething.

I adore everything about Organic Soft Shape Sorter by Dandelion including packaging the toy came in which is 100% recyclable and printed with vegetable inks. I highly recommend this safe and practical toy for babies ages 6 months and up. It would make a great gift for the special baby in your life!

You can purchase Dandelion Classic Organic Developmental Sorter for 23.44 right now on Amazon with free super saving shipping!

**Be on the look out because I’ll be offering a giveaway of this product as well as a few others by Dandelion!

Sibu Beauty |Sea Buckthorn Balancing Facial Cleanser {review}

I have a great new natural skin care product to introduce from a company called Sibu Beauty. This company prides itself on containing only the best ingredients such as the powerful and nutrient-rich sea buckthorn berry – harvested exclusively from the Himalayas. Each of their products are paraben-free, cruelty-free and preservative-free and promote improved skin tone, texture and overall healthy aging. I was very happy to see that all of their products rated fantastically on the EWG Skin Deep Data Base (0-1) which is the lowest and safest rating a product can get!

I’ve been using Sibu Beauty’s  Sea Buckthorn Balancing facial cleanser for a few days now and been quite satisfied with the results that I’ve been getting with the product. This particular product is deep yet gentle. The exfoliating properties are obviously there and are gentle enough to not agitate the skin in any way.

Sibu Beauty’s  detoxifying facial cleanser easily removes dirt, impurities and make-up while maintaining a healthy balance in your skin without compromising its natural protective nutrients. After use my face felt fresh & clean throughout the span of the day and I loved how easily it was to use and welcomed the fact that it was a  non-foaming gel. I’ve used other cleansers and the foaming was just a bit too much for my liking.

I found this product on sale for 8.98 on the Supplement Warehouse website for a 4 ounce bottle. It usually retails for 17.99 at other places such as GNC and on the Sibu Beaty website.  On the Sibu Beauty site, you can purchase the product for 17.95 with free shipping and handling charges though if there’s a GNC around you can pop in and see if it’s available to save you the trouble of buying online. I would recommend this product if you are looking for an all natural facial cleanser that is safe for your skin and for the environment around you.
