Band Angels is brand line of products created in 2009 to provide mothers and caretakers a way to comfort and teach children in the ways of the Bible when everyday, minor injuries occur.

Who would have that a product most commonly used to cover my daughter’s ouchie boo boo’s could open the door to ministering to my children, their friends, and to complete strangers about the healing love and power of God Almighty!

These band-aids feature two fun angel friends carrying a scroll that features up to three Bible verses that talk about healing such as Ex. 15:26 “For I am the LORD that heals you”. Jeremiah 30:17 “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds”. And Isaiah 53:5 …by His stripes we are healed.

My Thoughts….

I received a box of these to review and I’ve had to use them plenty. My daughter turning two years old next month is a bit of a tom boy. She’s about afraid of nothing and when she gets outdoors, there’s no doubt that she’ll return back to me with all sorts of cut, scrapes, and bruises to be bandaged.

S he also gets blood draw every six weeks to three months depending on how her thyroid condition is doing and these are always great to pull out to put on her boo boo’s after she ends up pulling the other band-aids off. She’s getting older and I’ve been sharing more about God with her and she really likes these band-aids a lot. I like them too because they are less likely to just fall off as well. One day I left the box out and Melody was putting them all over her dolls whom apparently fell down and got hurt. Did I mention she’s got quite the imagination?

You can purchase Band Angels straight from their website and in most christian book stores. Boxes contain twenty band-aids and right now are three boxes for ten dollars or you can buy each box individual for $3.50 box which includes shipping in the United States!

There’s always been something extra special about using handmade soaps. I’d prefer them over any soap that I’d typically be purchasing at my local retail store.

You can imagine how excited that I was when I was contacted personally to review several 2 ounce bars of soap from the company The Joy of Soap. This company offers natural skin care made from organic, natural and sustainably grown ingredients perfect for skin types of all kinds.

I reviewed several different scents that their soap are available in and I must say that I love all them. Each of the soaps I received arrived in a 100% cotton muslin bags, which can be reused for many other purposes around my house! Recently we’ve been using the Cucumber Curious soap in which not only do I like but my husband does too. We both love the fact that the scent isn’t over bearing but instead smells light and wonderful. This soap also gives a fantastic lather as well meaning that just a little goes a long way.

If you are thinking of purchasing soap for yourself or for as a gift for someone else, I encourage you to check out The Joy of Soap. Their soaps would make the perfect addition to a gift basket and the perfect gift for Mom this Mother’s Day. Be on the look out as well because they will soon be offering more skin care products such as scrubs, cleansers, and creams.
My Thoughts…

You may recall my review on Scholastic Treasures – Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics that I reviewed a month of so ago. This collection is much like that one but mainly has selected stories about animals!

I loved watching the DVD from this collection that featured the story of Chrysanthemum a little mouse who loved her name until the kids at school poked fun of it. I recall reading this story when I was a young girl and am so glad to have this collection at hand to share with my daughter.

These box sets are perfect for in home or on the road and perfect to share with every member of the family. Hours of enjoyment and priceless memories will come from the heart felt as well as silly stories included in DVD format!

While visiting there, I found everything from clothes and toys to bath and body to a fantastic selection of ec0-friendly furniture!

I was given the opportunity to review Maggie’s Organics Organic Cotton Penguin Stuffed Toy , an adorable toy just perfect for the Christmas and winter season!I love the fact that this toy is made with organic cotton and recycled materials, and fair labor. Another fun fact is that each penguin is hand-sewn on a 100% worker-owned co-operative in North Carolina, so each one is unique. This toy is great for children of all ages as Maggie’s Organics hand embroiders each penguin’s face so no small parts can come off.

I’m not sure who loves this little penguin more my daughter or me! I’m really glad that Kid Bean has chosen to include such great eco-friendly companies on their site and have rightly earned the Green America seal of approval . Their prices are definitely something to brag about too!

Pretty Please Press publishes various titles of children’s books that were made to be read aloud and later discussed. Each of the books available are hoped to be building blocks in helping to enlighten and teach children various values through each issue displayed with the end results of learned life long character skills.

A special thanks to Pretty Please Press for giving me the opportunity to Review and Giveaway a set of their character building books! I hope you benefit from the short write up of each book below.

My thoughts…

Kick Block Punch by Jacquie Hann

This book is the perfect story for children who may have an interest in martial arts. We find the main character, a boy named Sam, learning that to master a certain skill he must start at the bottom and work his way up. This story teaches patience, practice, and determination and is perfect for discussion. I personally love seeing the character development through the story. This book is quite special to me because I took karate classes growing up and learned these lessons in self-discipline first hand.

Basset Ballerina by Laura Aimee Garn & Illustrated by Valerie Sokolova

This book will be quite a treat to all dog lovers out there. I know a friend of mine who has a basset hound, and I’m sure she would just eat this book right up! I love this whimsical tale of Bella the Basset hound whose dream is to become a great ballerina. The illustrations in this book are ever so delightful. Though everyone tries to deter Bella from the dream she has, she tries her very best no matter what, which is really counts the most.

Pynx by Jeffrey Greene

My husband being a fan of science fiction is a real fan of the illustrations that can be found throughout the pages of this book. The creatures have fun names Long- Tailed Lavender Cripe, White Fuzzbun, Blue Pipsqueak, and other names! In this story you’ll learn what it means to accept others despite their differences and to look within yourself in to try and make a point. Perfect story in teaching children to not be so quick to judge others who may live, look, and act a little different than themselves. It really makes me think about the song “Why can’t we be friends?”.

The Scritchy Little Twittchell Sisters by Laura Aimee Gran and Illustrated by Erik Brooks

I literally laughed out loud when reading through this story. I grew up with four sisters, one older and three younger, so I can really relate to this book though quite a bit of the parts are exaggerated for amusement purposes, I’m sure. Siblings will fight, there’s no preventing that. In this book, despite the good, bad, and the sometimes ugly, the point put across is that through it all understanding and appreciation for each other can be learned. Anyone whom has a sibling especially girls with sisters as well as their parents would really love this book, in my opinion.

Giveaway is now over.

I remember as a child when putting on socks that sometimes the seams would make wearing them uncomfortable! I was pretty lucky that I lived in the south so going around barefooted without getting in trouble most days was permitted but when it started getting cold out, that was a different story. I was told that I needed to wear socks which wasn’t hugely annoying but I can recall several times were the seams of my socks would be troublesome to me to the point were I took of my shoes and tried to rearrange all the annoyingly bumpy bits.

I recently came across a mom created company called, Smart Knit Kids whom offer seamless sock in a variety of colors and styles. Smart Knits are started at the toe and worked up toward the ankle, this process insures a 100% seamless sock.Since it’s launch in 2003, Smart Knits Kids continues to grow and find new markets. Super Soft material and seam free design make it the most comfortable kids sock on the market.

My Thoughts…

Out of the generosity Smart Knit Kids my daughter and I were given the opportunity to review some of these socks! These socks come in several styles which include ankle, crew, and knee-high. Ranging in sizes from 1-4 toddler all the way up to a girls/boys size 5-8. The vast selection of colors ensure theres a pair to suit everyone child’s taste and personality!

I choose to go with the knee-high style since during the fall I tend to have my daughter dressed in long sleeved tops with matching skorts, hence the knee-high style is perfect for covering her legs up most of the way without the hassle of wearing panty hose.

I’m so impressed with Smart Knit Kids socks! I love that each pair of these socks have a
non-binding Halo Top that fits comfortably without slipping down my daughter’s leg! Most socks usually have those elastic bands at the top that wear out rather quickly and can sometimes be to tight leaving a mark on your child’s leg.

These socks are soft and stretchy, so I don’t have to worry about over stretching to put a sock on my pretty hyper toddler whom thinks it’s absolutely hilarious to try to move as much as possible when it’s time to put on her socks. Either she thinks sock time is a game or she’s really that ticklish!

Their is no heel on these socks so I don’t have to worry about running to the store so soon just to get socks that fit. Clearly as a parents I’ve learned that children’s feet grow exceptionally quickly.

I love how well these socks hug my daughter’s feet! They’ll be no annoying bumps, bobbles, or wrinkles to rain on our parade any longer!

High Tech fibers that wick are added that helps prevent moisture as well as working to keep your children’s feet dry, preventing stinky feet.

I recommend the socks to all, I believe your children will thank you for them! Each pair retails for around $6.95 or less! To find out where you can purchase these, visit http://www.smartknitkids.com/

When I was a child, I loved having my things personalized! Personalization was crucial in growing up in a home with four other sisters! I recall when purchasing school supplies, we would often get things mixed up and one thing led to the next in neither of us getting the notebook or folder we wanted for example. You know how it goes, if you argue over an item long enough, mom or dad steps in decides who gets what. As a parent now myself, I realize the importance of personalization in not wanting my own kids having to go through the same hassle of deciding over who gets what.

While browsing around online, I came across a fantastic company that specializes in personalized gifts for kids called Frecklebox, a company on a mission to educate and entertain! Some of the products that they offer are personalized books, posters, growth charts, journals, coloring books, stickers, place mats, puzzles, and many other great personalized items.

About the Founders of Frecklebox… (from their site)

One guy’s name is Scott. The other one is Mark. Both guys dove into the baby making business over a decade ago. Even before that, in partnership, they created a printing and distribution business called Progressive Solutions. Both their kids and their company inspired Frecklebox. You see, as parents, these guys take the job of expanding their children’s minds very seriously. And as business people, they’ve been on a relentless mission to explore the possibilities of web-based digital printing. Presto. Frecklebox was born. Hopefully, a great big Frecklehead family will follow.

Mark from Frecklebox generously sent my daughter Melody and I a couple of fun personalized gifts to review. In order to see how easy the process of personalizing and ordering an item is, Mark let me choose an item to personalize for Melody. It was really hard to decide want I wanted to review with all the neat gifts available but after awhile, I went with a personalized placemats. I choose the Cute Kitty Placemat and decided to add my daughters first name and her two middle names.

I’ve come across other personalized items in retail stores that don’t usually have my daughter’s name Melody available such as stickers, cups, and key chains for example. So I really have to appreciate Frecklebox beyond leaps and bounds as you can add any name you would so choose to your item. After deciding on the name I wanted on my product, I simply clicked preview and the image was refreshed to show me what the finished product would look like. The whole process couldn’t have been easier!

I was so excited to receive my product, and could not believe how fast my order was shipped and at my door step! Literally, I believe the whole process took only a matter of 3-5 days to get to me. Talk about great service!

My daughter’s personalized place-mat is perfect, and I know she’ll love it for years and years to come! The quality is superb and I know without a shadow of a doubt that this product will last for a good long time! Mark also surprised me with my very own Zebra personalized notebook! That’s right, even though I am grown and Frecklebox is generally specialized in gifts for kids, they know deep down us mom’s love and appreciate our own personalized items too!

I can’t stress enough how wonderful this company is to work with and what great products they have to offer at reasonable prices. The designs are fantastic and great for both boys and girls. The items at Frecklebox would bring a smile to any child’s face and would make great gifts with the upcoming Holiday season upon us.
