Raising a Modern-Day Princess: Inspiring Purpose, Value, and Strength in Your Daughter
By Pam Farrel & Doreen Hanna / Tyndale House
Help your daughter journey into womanhood with a healthy self-image and knowledge of who she is in Christ! Writing from their personal experiences, co-authors Farrel and Hanna stress the importance of creating a rite-of-passage ceremony for your young woman; provide helpful tips in chapter-end “Mentor Moment
My Thoughts…
The book Raising a Modern-Day Princess by authors Pam Farrel and Doreen Hanna has moved me and it’s entirely changed my way of thinking in how to raise my own daughter as well as taught me how to influence the young woman around me.
Grace, dignity, inner beauty, and self worth, traits every daughter of the King should have instilled into her life. Often enough no one is taking the time to celebrate daughter’s journey into becoming the woman God has created them to be. It’s not hard at at all to do this, in fact Raising a Modern-Day Princess suggest many types of rite of passage celebrations both big and small that can change and impact a girls life forever. The examples of personal testimony of mothers, fathers, and daughters that took part in this are ever so moving.
Not often is it that a book speaks such revelations that tugged at my heart strings and left me in tears. I encourage every sister as well as brothers in Christ to pick up this book and read it.
I promise you, if you take the advice of this book, whom ever God has laid on your heart will feel purpose, value, and strength in moving forward and following the path God has laid in front of them.
This book is on the top favorite reads for 2010 and ten for me, and I am quite honored and blessed by those that contributed in writing these words of truth. If I could, I would personally give everyone I know a copy of Raising a Modern-Day Princess.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

As of recently, I was given the chance to review one of Beyond Quilts latest creations called a Scoodie! This creation is muti- functional as it’s not only a scarf but a hat as well…hence the name Scoodie. The colorful blue Scoodie I was sent to review is covered in adorable owls and is made from fleece which keeps it’s wearer both snug, comfortable and warm during the cold winter months.
I love my Scoodie because not only can I wear it, but my daughter can as well, all I had to do was fold it back! It’s perfect if for unexpected weather on the fly as I’ve been caught plenty of times without an umbrella or a snug warm hat!
Overall, the Scoodie makes for a fun, eye appealing, fashionable and functional must have item! Another thing that’d I like to add is that the Scoodie it ships absolutely free making it a great deal at only $10.00.
Do check out Beyond Quilts as Caroyln offers a variety of beautiful quilts, as well as other handcrafted products for people and pets at her store for very affordable prices! If you’d like to keep up with all the latest from Carolyn, I encourage you to visit and subscribe to her blog.
Disclaimer: I was sent a Scoodie for review from Beyond Quilts. This review is 100% my opinion and has not been edited or reviewed by anyone. I was not compensated in any other way for this product review.
Holiday Gift Guide: My Princess Academy Review and Giveaway

Generosity, Intelligence, Beauty, and Confidence are character traits that should be instilled into every little girl. These four very important traits also known as the four pillars of princess hood which are highly encouraged to learn by My Princess Academy.
My Thoughts…
If you visit My Princess Academy, you’ll find many enjoyable interactive games and activities which build skills in the four pillars before mentioned. As your child goes through each level/game, she will gain points to use in the My Princess Academy Shop. Know that this site is geared toward ages of girls three and up though my 18 month old daughter enjoyed watching mommy explore it.
My daughter is definitely our little princess, so I was really thrilled when I saw how affordable the products in the princess academy store were. You’ll find the store is filled with dresses, tiaras, wands and boas and more!
My daughter and I were given the chance to review the princess pettiskirt thanks to My Princess Academy! Oh my goodness gracious, it’s adorable! As soon as I received it in the mail, I put it on my daughter right away! She felt pretty special I could tell, and had fun spinning in circles with it on and giggling ever so sweetly.
The pettiskirt is Lilac and Teal Trimmed in color, made of yards of fluffy soft polyester chiffon, a gathered satin elastic waistband and tied with a deluxe satin ribbon. It even comes with its own hanger! Our hanger read explains about the character trait of patience and reads… patience is your ability to wait you turn or work through a challenge. Princesses should try to be patient with themselves and other people and things around them. I love it, your child can have fun playing pretend/dress up as well as learn and improve her own personal character traits.
I have fallen in love this extra special academy for our super special little girls! I will definitely be stopping by again!
Buy it: My Princess Academy Pettiskirt can be purchased on the Academy website for $32.00 (plus shipping) US. You have the option of gift wrapping. The Holiday is fast approaching so I do recommend checking out My Princess Academy for the princesses in your life! Note that most of the clothing items in the store range for ages 3 -4 to 7-8 in size. http://store.myprincessacademy.com/
