Review: Yum Yum Dishes | Portion Control Bowls for Snack Time!

“It’s all about Moderation not Deprivation” is the motto from the company that offers a delightfully colorful collection of Portion Control Snack Bowls and Plates. These plates and bowls are perfect for keeping track of how much you eat in hopes to maintain and a healthier lifestyle especially when it seems like all around us is screaming for us to indulge in more than we should!
I was sent one of the four ounce sized Yum Yum Bowls to share my thoughts upon. This bowl is very eye catching, in fact the entire collection is offering colors in cherry red, sunshine yellow, pistachio green and bold blue. On the inside of the bowl it reads “Yum Yum time is…and on the bottom of the bowl says “Over.” How cute is that? A reminder that even though we may want to eat more that we should stop at one serving!
The bowl itself also comes with a clear plastic lid for storing. This makes it easy to plan your desired snacks ahead of time! Each bowl, is ceramic making it safe for the microwave and the dishwasher though it’s recommend to hand-wash. These are high quality and can be bought in sets of four at the price of $24.00.
These bowls are great for serving up snacks like pretzels, yogurt, fruits, nuts, ice cream, and much more! And not just great for moms but for kids too in teaching them about servings and when to stop! I don’t know about anyone else but I have a son that will eat until he has a stomach ache! Portions are key! And don’t forget, they also have 9 inch dinner plate to help with portion controlled dinners too!

I know one of the goals that tops many peoples list is to pursue a healthier lifestyle. Some people may be trying to lose weight and others are aiming to maintain exactly where they are.
A lot of people think that in order to lose weight, you have to sacrifice the food you love or eat things that are completely tasteless especially when it comes to desserts!. Tasty Teething Biscuits
This week I made teething biscuits/cookies for my 9 month old baby boy. I had been wanting to for awhile and finally did since the baby cereal had been stacking up in the pantry. Seriously, he does not like that stuff but he’ll eat it when it’s made into a biscuit! I plan on trying different variations since we aren’t afraid of flavor and he pretty much eats everything that we eat. Last night he got his first taste of steak and you can guess that he was eager for more of that. Now I know why people says boys will eat you out of house and home.
I got the recipe for the biscuits I made from the Wholesome Baby Food website. There are a lot of recipes to choose from but today since I had a lot to do, decided to use a really simple one. Not that most of them aren’t simple I just didn’t have the time to measure out the spices and other things. Three ingredients that were on my counter top and easy to throw together, yes please! I went with this one:
Eggless Baby Cereal Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup flour ( I used all purpose)
1 cup baby cereal ( I used oatmeal baby cereal)
1 cup juice ( I used apple)
Directions:
Mix ingredients well. Roll out and cut into shapes. Bake for 20-30 min @ 350 deg. F.
Freezes Well *Dough will be very sticky and seem “wrong” and may be hard to work with. This is as it should be so do not panic. You may wish to add more flour and/or cereal to achieve a more doughy consistency.*
I had fun making these and I had such adorable cookie cutters that hadn’t seen any love for awhile. Not that I don’t bake cookies often but I don’t usually make roll out cookies till around the cooler seasons. The summer time usually puts a damper on my baking due to not wanting to heat up the house so much. I look forward to making more of these. They are so easy to do and making them yourself is a lot more affordable than purchasing boxes of the pre-made ones.
