Review & Giveaway: LuLu Fitzgerald an Etsy Shop

I love the internet because I come across such beautiful creations and often get the opportunity to converse with and meet such creative people. One of my favorite places to browse for unique one of of kind creations would have to be Etsy!
LuLu Fitzgerald an Etsy Shop is one of my recent finds that I am more than happy to be able to share here on my blog. In this store you’ll find find fun hand puppets, afghans, charming bow ties, button jewelry, cute hair accessories, and simply darling dresses, jumpers, and button down shirts for children.
I was so happy to have been able to purchase a jumper from this shop for my three year old daughter to wear during the Autumn season!
The jumper itself is made extremely well and features such fun fabric of fall leaves and trees! It’s fully lined with a lightweight brown cotton fabric keeping it breathable but also giving it’s wearer the extra warmth they need during the Fall. I love the buttons chosen as they compliment the jumper perfectly and it makes for easier on and off when dressing your child. My daughter has worn short and long sleeved tops, leggings, boots, and different cardigans with this jumper. There’s so many ways to ways to mix it up! It’s making for lots of great photos and it’s my go to for our family Thanksgiving dinner this year!
I enjoyed getting to know the artist and mom behind LuLu Fitzgerald an Etsy Shop and hope you do to! Please do enjoy the interview questions I asked below.
1.Why did you decide to open shop and how long have you been? I love to sew, especially for my two kids. However, you can only make so many jumpers and bow ties before your little one has enough. That’s why
I opened my shop in August 2010. The shop allows me to keep sewing even after my kids have everything they need.
2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products? My favorite part about sewing and creating is seeing the final product. Since every item is handmade, they are all a little different. It’s fun to see all those little differences in the finished product, which makes each and every item unique.
3. Apart from creating things, what do you do? When I’m not sewing I am either working at my part time job doing public relations for a local school or spending lots of time with my two kids – ages 2 and 3.5. I also teach Sunday School to a rambunctious but loving group of 2-year olds at my non-denominational Christian church.
4. What inspires you? I find inspiration in my kids and quite often at the sewing store. There are so many beautiful fabrics – I find one I like and start picturing what it can become. I also think about what my kids like and what they need when looking for inspiration.
5.In five years you’d like to be…? In five years I’d like to be right where I am now, just five years older, with five more years experience under my belt! I want to be very involved in my children’s school activities and education. I want to be selling my items at more local craft shows. I want to turn my etsy shop into an official business. I might even want to have another child, but that is still up for debate ;o)
10-percent of all sales in my shop now go to the Cincinnati Teen Challenge: www.teenchallengecincinnati.org

Greenchild Creations OS Fitted Cloth Diaper {review + giveaway}
There’s a lot of reasons I choose to cloth diaper. Though this reason may not be the most important that there is, it’s up there. What reason may you ask? Well, it’s but because of all the cute patterned fabrics you can get cloth diapers in these days! Who really wants a boring old white or branded character diaper if you really don’t have to get one?
Speaking of cute cloth diapers, you should see the ones offered by Greenchild Creations! And how thrilled I am to be reviewing a one sized flannel fitted cloth diaper from there personally.
First off, this diaper is one sized! No need to measure your baby in any way. I like that because it saves time and there’s no need to purchase more diapers when my baby gets bigger! Believe me, I know those growth spurts seemingly come out of nowhere!
The design of this diaper has a flap that can be tucked in the pocket opening the diaper has. I love the pocket because I can stuff whatever liners I have into the diaper for day or night use. Now if your baby is wearing this overnight or on the go, I would recommend using a water-proof cover because the diaper itself is not waterproof. And with all that being said, I’ve been loving this diaper and we’ve had no leaks!
Also, I was sent this diaper with safety pins. I usually don’t use pins because I have this huge fear of accidentally poking my baby. But no worries, I used my Snappi with the diaper and it all stayed together great. And if you don’t want to use safety pins like me, snaps can be added to the diaper you may want to purchase upon request.
I asked Anne, creator behind Greenchild Creations for my review a few questions so you could get to know her better too! Here are the questions and answer.
1.Why did you decide to open shop and how long have you been? At much urging from friends, I decided to create the shop in 2009. Life was a little crazy at that point so I let the shop sit for awhile. After things calmed down a bit, the summer of 2010 I spent creating my diaper design and sending it out to friends in the US and Canada to test it out for me. After a few design modifications, I opened shop in Dec 2010. Then my mom made me the most adorable hedgehog pincushion that Christmas, and I convinced her to contribute to my shop. She makes the pincushions and will be making personalized crocheted snowflakes for Christmas.
2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?
I think the best part is being able to experiment with it all and see what happens. I love the sense of satisfaction I get from seeing a beautiful, useful finished product, knowing I created it.
3. Apart from creating things, what do you do? I stay at home with the most amazing little boy, readers can learn more about him here if they wish: http://thegreenchildchronicles.blogspot.com/2010/06/introduction.html And I spend a lot of time cooking; I love it! I am in process of writing a cookbook inspired by my little boy.

4. What inspires you? When I see a need or a want for something, I get inspired – whether it’s from a person, place, event, even nature!
5. In five years you’d like to be…? In 5 years I’d like to be doing much the same thing: sewing, making natural skin care products, and creating new recipes. I love what I do; creating beautiful, useable things makes me happy
Overall…We are thrilled to spread the word about Green Child Creations! Many wonderful items are available in their Etsy store such as handmade soaps, pincushions, aprons, diapers (obviously), and balms! I encourage you to check it all out.

Etsy | Baby Sully’s Art {review and giveaway}

I’ve really enjoy being able to theme and decorate my son Owen’s nursery area in our home. I know some people totally with go decorating a space thinking it would cost too much money and consume much time but that’s not always the case. It can be really budget friendly by simply deciding upon a certain theme and only choosing to add a few things.
I love color so I worked around decorating my son’s area with items that are bright in cheerful. I mainly worked around the colors in my sons second hand but in fantastic condition crib bedding. The crib bedding features construction worker trucks and automobiles. I found a fantastic knobby coat/jacket hanger that had high flying toy airplanes that fit right in. So I had the crib bedding, a coat hanger, a neutral colored dresser with a few coordinating toys and books on top and to bring it all together, a wonderful piece of nursery/room art from Baby Sully’s Art!
I enjoyed working with Rachel the mom and creator behind Baby Sully’s Art! It was like she was reading my mind through the process and knew exaclty what I was looking for. The set of paintings she created for me fit my nursery theme perfectly! The brightly colored painted airplanes in a cloud filled sky featured intricate patterns that are ideal for a babies room as well as an older child! I really loved how paint and fabric were incorporated together! And how she included my baby boys name “Owen” as sky writing from a plane! How cute and original is that?
I quite enjoyed getting to see the progress photos as the custom pieces were coming together! Rachel answered all my questions and kept me on tabs on how everything with the piece was going! Definitely high quality service, if you ask me! I would highly recommend her to everyone for all their nursery or children’s room art needs! Just take it from me when I say it’s truly
amazing what something like a painting on the wall can really do for a room! It’s totally spirit lifting and I love that my son is as much of a fan of his room art as me as I often catch him staring up at it as he lay in his crib!
I enjoyed getting to know the Mama behind Baby Sully’s Art with my Etsy meet and greet questions and hope you do too! It’s such an inspiration to meet someone with such passion behind their creations!
1.Why did you decide to start doing this on Etsy and how long have you been? I have always been a wannabe artist, but worked full-time in marketing and just did arts and crafts as a hobby. When I became pregnant, I immediately wanted to paint something for the nursery. I did a set of 3 safari paintings that matched the bedding and I had so much fun doing it! After I had Erin (aka baby Sully), I could not even think about leaving her in daycare all day while I went to a full-time job. So…I made the hard decision to stay at home and try to contribute a little bit of money to the family income by doing what I love (which is painting). I opened up my etsy shop shortly after Erin was born in late 2009.
2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?
I love doing custom work. It is such a great feeling when someone describes what they are looking for or shows me a picture of their bedding and I get completely inspired! Nothing makes me happier than a satisfied customer, especially when I create something completely new for them
3. Apart from creating things, what do you do?
I am a stay at home mom and I also work as a part-time ecommerce consultant for a small company. I LOVE soccer and everything you can do outdoors in Colorado. My husband and my daughter are the two most important things in my life.
4. What inspires you?
Almost everything inspires me! I can’t help but come up with new ideas when I’m shopping at Babies R Us or when I see a new print at the fabric store, but my main inspiration comes from my customers. They give me amazing ideas and I run with it!
5.In five years you’d like to be…?
I’d like to be a stay-at-home mommy with a succesful business. Basically, doing what I do now, but more kids and a slightly better ratio of hours worked to money earned
I’m so lucky to have a husband who is supporting my dream!
Win!
Rachel is offering one of my readers a 50.00 gift certificate to her shop Baby Sully’s Art!
