2011 Holiday Gift Guide Feature: Holiday Candle Making Kit from A Toy Garden {Review + Giveaway}}

LogoATG624

A Toy Garden is truly a wonderful place to find all sorts of fantastic gifts for children of all ages! After having my own child, I’ve been pretty picky about the toys and gifts that she receives. I’m a fan of the sort of gifts that I know will be treasured for many years to come, much like the products I found while browsing the vast selection offered at A Toy Garden. A Toy Garden is a family based business that offers only the best! You’ll find that they offer a large amount of fair trade toys, as well as toys made 100% in the USA!

I was blessed with the opportunity to review the  Make It Yourself Candle Kit to feature in my 2011 Holiday Gift Guide! The Multi-Colored Make It Yourself Candle Kit  assembled exclusively by A Toy Garden is a lot of fun! In my mind this candle making kit is the  perfect craft to do together with family and friends during the holiday season!What this kit includes is 12 8×8 inch sheets  of 100% honeycombed beeswax in 12 different beautiful colors, 4 yards of quality wick, and very easy to follow instructions.

My daughter and I used the candle making kit together to create such pretty candles! I first prepped the beeswax since it was stored in a cooler place with my blow dryer to make sure it was warm enough to roll. I then cut the wick to the proper size and then let my daughter help me roll each candle out!  We also brought out my mini clay cutters to use to add different shapes such as stars to each candle!The candles came out great and my daughter was so proud of her creations! I look forward to trying out some different combinations because the combinations of candles you can make are endless!

I think hand crafted  candles are wonderful gifts and how extra special if the receiver knew you made them yourself! I recommend checking out A Toy Garden! They have a fantastic selection of arts and craft items among the vast selection of toys that encourage imaginative play! Keep in mind that it’s not too late to order the The Multi-Colored Make It Yourself Candle Kit to enjoy with your own friends and family this season! It’s also available in Christmas or Hannukah colors, and in natural beeswax.

Greenchild Creations OS Fitted Cloth Diaper {review + giveaway}

There’s a lot of reasons I choose to cloth diaper. Though this reason may not be the most important that there is, it’s up there. What reason may you ask? Well, it’s  but  because of all the cute patterned fabrics you can get cloth diapers in these days! Who really wants a boring old white or branded character diaper if you really don’t have to get one?

Speaking of cute cloth diapers, you should see the ones offered by Greenchild Creations! And how thrilled I am to be reviewing a one sized flannel fitted cloth diaper from there personally.

First off, this diaper is one sized! No need to measure your baby in any way. I like that because it saves time and there’s no need to purchase more diapers when my baby gets bigger! Believe me, I know those growth spurts seemingly come out of nowhere!

The design of this diaper has a flap that can be tucked in the pocket opening the diaper has. I love the pocket because I can stuff whatever liners I have into the diaper for day or night use. Now if your baby is wearing this overnight or on the go, I would recommend using a water-proof cover because the diaper itself is not waterproof. And with all that being said, I’ve been loving this diaper and we’ve had no leaks!

Also, I was sent this diaper with safety pins. I usually don’t use pins because I have this huge fear of accidentally poking my baby. But no worries, I used my Snappi with the diaper and it all stayed together great. And if you don’t want to use safety pins like me, snaps can be added to the diaper you may want to purchase upon request.

I asked Anne, creator behind Greenchild Creations for my review a few questions so you could get to know her better too! Here are the questions and answer.

1.Why did you decide to open shop and how long have you been? At much urging from friends, I decided to create the shop in 2009. Life was a little crazy at that point so I let the shop sit for awhile. After things calmed down a bit, the summer of 2010 I spent creating my diaper design and sending it out to friends in the US and Canada to test it out for me. After a few design modifications, I opened shop in Dec 2010. Then my mom made me the most adorable hedgehog pincushion that Christmas, and I convinced her to contribute to my shop. She makes the pincushions and will be making personalized crocheted snowflakes for Christmas.

2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?
I think the best part is being able to experiment with it all and see what happens. I love the sense of satisfaction I get from seeing a beautiful, useful finished product, knowing I created it.

3. Apart from creating things, what do you do? I stay at home with the most amazing little boy, readers can learn more about him here if they wish: http://thegreenchildchronicles.blogspot.com/2010/06/introduction.html And I spend a lot of time cooking; I love it! I am in process of writing a cookbook inspired by my little boy.

4. What inspires you? When I see a need or a want for something, I get inspired – whether it’s from a person, place, event, even nature!

5. In five years you’d like to be…? In 5 years I’d like to be doing much the same thing: sewing, making natural skin care products, and creating new recipes. I love what I do; creating beautiful, useable things makes me happy

Overall…We are thrilled to spread the word about Green Child Creations!  Many wonderful items are available in their Etsy store such as handmade soaps, pincushions, aprons, diapers (obviously), and balms! I encourage you to check it all out.

Seventh Generation Free & Clear Diapers {Review & Giveaway}

I exclusively cloth diaper my baby but when we are out and about, I choose to go with disposables. Disposable are so much easier on the go and I’m sure that most nursery works and family and friends aren’t real fans of having to change cloth.

Being a fan of the Seventh Generation line of cleaning products (they were only ones that didn’t make me throw up during my pregnancy! ) and being eco-friendly minded, I figured I would give these diapers a try and am to this date very happy with that decision and I’m going to tell you why!

I’m a real fan of Seventh Generation diapers because they are great for the environment, there are no fragrances ( I hate fragrant diapers!), no toxic chemicals, and no design branding or bleaching! These diapers are brown in color and I’m liking the natural look quite a bit compared to others that have cartoon characters on them!

I  optted to review the size 2 diapers but probably should have went with the size 3.  My baby boy is 17lbs and ended up having a few undesirable blow outs when we were out.  This is a problem I am sure could have been prevented if I went a size up. Oh well, you live you learn! So if you aren’t sure, just go with the bigger size!

I’ve had no problem with leaks ( just the poop blow outs), or rashes, and find it very easy to take the diaper off and put it on. Some diapers I’ve used in the past I found that the tab was very hard to pull off and tinker with…not good for those middle of the night diaper changes.

Overall Seventh Generation has a great line of diapers! They may seem a bit expensive for some but you can totally bargain hunt, for instance the discount with the Amazon Mom subscription makes up for the increased cost these usually go for.

**Right now, you can print out a $2 coupon for these diapers by clicking on THIS LINK. **

Seventh Generation has offered to give away a package of these diapers to one of my readers, in the winner’s choice of size; sizes 2, 4 or 5.

To Enter:  Visit Seventh Generation, then come back here and leave me a comment letting me know which product you like  or would like to try the most. Let me know what size diapers you’d like if you won!
