Our Easter Weekend

We had a really busy but very enjoyable Easter this year. The festivities started on Saturday and we couldn’t have gotten weather any better! It was sunny and warm with no chance of rain whatsoever! My daughter Melody attended her first church Easter Egg Hunt this year! Last year she was a bit young and I ended up just hiding eggs in the living room. This year she acutally got to run free in an open field with other children and gather as many eggs as she could. She seemed to enjoy herself and was really happy that she found a special egg in which she swapped for a prize which was a really cute flower toy! I enjoyed seeing her so happy and was glad to meet and talk with friends while we were there!

We also went for a walk to the park this weekend. It was Owen’s first time ever at the park, I even let him squirm around and my Go Baby Go mat! He was really enjoying looking all around and getting some sunshine too.  Melody and her Daddy were playing with bubbles in which was my daughter’s first time! She’s not quite graceful enough to actually blow them yet. Though it’s pretty amusing to watch her try, I admit. She instead prefers to either shake the bubble wand or to run with her bigger bug shaped bubble wand.

On Easter day we attended church, had a nice lunch at Burgerville ( couldn’t pass up the BOGO Fresh Strawberry Milkshakes), and then later dyed and decorated eggs at home. I had dyed eggs as a kid but never on my own! I vouch that egg dying will probably become an Easter tradition in our household because we all enjoyed it so much! I still have an extra Easter egg dying kit that I might bring out during my daughter’s birthday next month. It’s a pretty neat tie-dye egg set which will make for some pretty psychedelic eggs!

Overall we had a nice Easter holiday weekend! Very memorable and I got some great photos to add to my scrapbook and photo book collection (We might have gone a little over board with the Bunny Ears but I love them!). Next year I’m sure I’ll get to share with my daughter the main reason that we celebrate Easter in which we acknowledge the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Her Grandma Becky gave us a board book that talks about it but just about to turn 3 I believe she doesn’t quite grasp the whole concept yet.

So, how was your Easter?

Hexbug Nano Bug Easter Party!

Courtesy of MomSelect, I was able to recently host a Hexbug Nano Easter party to showcase the new limited edition Nano Easter Egg which includes inside a Hexbug Nano available in a variety of colors that comes with a pair of removable bunny ears!

So what is a Hexbug? Basically these little guys are battery operated robotic bugs! The move around in every which away much like real bugs do thanks to vibration in which they output when switched on!

These would be a fun little toy to start collecting for kids of all ages preferably ages 3 and up for safety reasons. Included with each bug is a code in which the owner can register their bug online to learn about science and play fun games! Gotta love toys that are not only fun but educational too!

My husband easily put together one of the Hexbug Habitat sets for the party which you can purchase separately. You can collect them all and make a huge race way for your bugs which is pretty neat!

So how did the kids like them? Well, my kids and their friends were pretty excited about the special addition to the regular Easter eggs this year! They all enjoyed watching and playing with their bugs quite a bit! I found it so cute that my three month old son was quite taken to just watching the bugs skitter and scatter around as well!

A Mom who enjoyed the bugs from our party stated:

The Hexbugs are a hit in our house!  For such a simple design it’s amazing how much they look like real bugs when they’re speeding around.  My 3-year-old daughter thinks they’re the coolest things ever and carries them around in her pocket, letting them out to play now and then.  Oh, and the removable bunny ears are a cute holiday addition.  :)

Overall we think the Hexbug Nano’s are awesome toys! I am sure kids will love the collect them in a multiple variety of colors with their own special detachable parts and habitats. I think all the different bugs they offer are really cool such as the ant, crab spider, inchworm, and more! Did I mention there’s even glow in the dark ones! These are the only bugs I can pretty much permit in my home! And with that being said, maybe this will keep those rambunctious boys from bringing real ones in!

Easter Weekend Recap

On Good Friday, my daughter Melody had to go in for lab work. She was due getting her blood drawn to see how she is doing with the latest medication dose she was given to level her thyroid out. It’s now Monday and I’ll have to give her endo a call soon because I have not heard back on those blood results.  What was a blessing today was instead of a having a slightly traumatic blood draw that always ended in tears, my daughter instead didn’t cry out all. She’s a real trooper for a 22 month old. She instead watched the nurse draw her blood and kept saying blood is red. She listens to everything I say and was repeating what I told her before we left the house. I explain every situation that we are to encounter to her and she gets it. She listens, she’s so sharp! After the blood draw Melody kept calling her band aid a bunny sticker. Note that that the band-aid had bugs bunny on it. It was so cute.  I also was reminded of God’s love and care for us as we went to the car. The sun had come out and a huge rainbow had filled the sky.

On Saturday my best friend and I did something not planned and a little crazy. What is it you ask? We went shopping the day before Easter. No this might not have been as crazy as black Friday but it was still pretty busy out. We had fun hitting up the local Dollar Store and Fred Meyer store picking up last minute Easter surprises for our girls. It was so much fun and extremely needed as we both needed to get out and do something, as I just got done moving and my friend is going into getting relocated within the next few days.

Sunday really wore me out. I had been up since five am in the morning! I did however get to spend some personal time with God before everyone else woke up and the sunrise when rain was predicted made it that much more special.  We are early morning church goers and my husband was doing guest care so we were at church by 8am. Melody had fun walking about with my until I could check her into children’s church. We explored the hallways and greeted everyone we met with a “Hi” and a “Happy Easter”.  The service at church was excellent so much that I’m going to be listening to the sermon again this week.

After church, we visited my in-laws, had lunch, played games, and then headed home to have our own little Easter celebration. My husband and I hid eggs around the house and Melody had so much fun finding them. She was giggling and she caught on really fast that she could easily keep all the eggs with her if she put them in her bolga basket. I posted a few pictures on her blog that you can see if you click here.

I also made my very first coconut cake for Easter and let me say it’s super delicious! I’m going to post the recipe on my recipe blog very soon.  Don’t worry all you coconut lovers, I’ll let you know about it here too!
