BookSneeze: 100 Prayers God Loves to Hear, 100 Praise Songs
100 Prayers God Loves to Hear, 100 Praise Songs is one of latest of many books by Stephen Elkins that we’ve been enjoying adding to our children’s home library. This book is filled with many colorful eye catching illustrations that are done by well known children’s book illustrator Tim O’Connor.
In this book, you’ll find 100 prayers, both well known and those you may have never heard before. Each prayer is introduced with a short story/devotional showing how each prayer can practically be applied each day. You’ll also find quotes and prayers from famous people and Bible characters as well as daily prayer reminders.
I like that for each daily devotion you can also incorporate either of the two full length music Cd’s included. When using this book you can sing, read, and discuss with heart to heart talk, which overall makes a great devotion time for your children.
Another great feature is that in the beginning of the book there is a section that highlights ten verses that speak about prayer. I think it would be great to memorize these over the span of doing the devotion with your kids! I say this book is a definite must to own for young kids!

Love Finds You in Lonesome Prairie Montana by Goyer and Fleiss
Love Finds You in Lonesome Prairie, Montana
By Tricia Goyer & Ocieanna Fleiss / Summerside Press
In 1890, Julia Cavanaugh travels west from New York City to unite orphans in her care with new families. Imagine her horror when she discovers that she’s to be “delivered,” too—as bride to an uncouth miner! But with no return fare, Julia’s options are bleak. What does God have planned for her in Montana? 320 pages, softcover from Summerside.
My Thoughts…
I was glad for the opportunity to read a title in the Love Finds You in Lonesome Prairie series. I’m a fan of historical christian fiction and also of warm tales of those finding love when they least expect it.
As I began to read this book, I swept into the story of Julia, a young woman whom ended up being led away from her own comforts and into a land great, wide, and quite unknown to her. On her journey, she grows to learn more about God and the gentle loving hearts of those she encounters.
Julie as well as the male lead (a parson) in the story though not realizing until quite sometime learn that God’s plan and their own are quite different. This is definitely a story of faith and the benefits of trusting God’s plan for us.
This book was easy to read, the characters were believable, and the story takes you on an adventure with roaming buffalo, gun fights, trials, a little bit of love, comedy, and more!
