Having a child that is now two years old and another one on the way, I  consider myself a mom that is in the know about lots of products for babies to toddlers on the market.I’ll be reviewing the Tummy Tub today, a product I would have loved to know about and owned back when my daughter Melody was born.

First and foremost, bath experiences for your baby should not be upsetting or traumatizing in any way. This brings me to remembering the first few baths given to my daughter once we were home from the hospital. I had purchased one of those long bath tubs that’s a massive space hog because I didn’t know any different and that’s what was available to me in the stores I shopped at.

My daughter would end up crying for her entire bath and be completely freezing no matter how quickly and much I tried to keep warm water on her. Also when she got a little bigger but not quite able to sit up on her own yet, she would end up getting bruises on her back from lift that was in the tub I purchased. I was not happy with that at all and neither was she as you can tell from the photo on the right.

Now with that being stated, let me list just a few of the reasons I love the Tummy Tub so much.

My second child hasn’t been born quite yet and with that being said, I have only been able to test and review the Tummy Tub with my two year old daughter. Before I received this tub, I was skeptical if she would even fit but low and behold she does and absolutely loves her bath times even more! ( see the photo on the left)

I like that I can sit over the side of the bathtub and easily wash my child without bending over uncomfortably or kneeling on the floor, very helpful to a very pregnant mommy with an already achy back I might add. Though if wanting to wash your baby elsewhere, you could easily purchase the stool accessory also available on the Tummy Tub website which also doubles as a toddler step stool.

I’ve been using the Tummy Tub for about a week now and have had no issues with it whatsoever.  Will I use this with my newborn? You can bet that I will though I will be careful because bathing a newborn baby in a sitting position can be a little tricky with them not being able to support their own head quite yet. I will note the more I have used this tub, the more comfortable I have gotten using it.

I highly recommend the Tummy Tub to all mothers. I found it decently priced at 39.95 which is only a few more dollars than some of the other tubs found in most stores  for babies. Now if only they had something like this for adults?

I wanted to be able to make a blanket for my children but alas I didn’t want to have to go out and purchase a sewing machine. I had seen and heard about no sew fleece blankets from a few people  so I thought I would try my hand at it and was thrilled my results!

A few weeks ago Joann Fabric was having a 40% fleece sell so that time was more than perfect to try my hand and blanket making. I wasn’t sure exactly what size to make for a baby/toddler so I went with a two yard blanket.  I figure more was better at less at the time. My 2 yard blanket is way too big for a little baby but is great to lay down on the floor for crawling on, snuggling up on the couch, or throwing over a twin bed.  Once I know the sex of my baby at the end of August, I’m going to make another no sew blanket and this time go with a 1 yard to a 1 1/2 yard blanket instead.

These blankets are easy to make but a little bit time consuming, especially if you make a two yard blanket. They’ll be lots and lots of cutting! I found the tying part much easier and faster.  Overall if you want to make a fun personalized gift for a friend or baby shower, these are so simple to do.

What You Would Need

• A pair of sharp scissors
• Ruler or tape measure
• Two coordinating pieces of any fleece . . . for a baby or toddler, purchase 1 to 1 1/2 yards,  for a child, purchase 1-3/4 yards (in each of two fabrics, for a teen or adult, purchase 2 yards (in each of two fabrics)

Directions

1. Trim the salvage from your fleece.
2. Lay your two pieces of fleece on top of one another with the good sides facing out.
3. Make sure your two pieces of fleece line up, if not trim accordingly.
4. Cut a 5×5 square from a piece of paper. Use this piece to cut out all four corners from your fleece.
5. Cut the tassles. Make each cut about an inch apart. Make sure you cut through both pieces of fabric on all four sides of the blanket.
6. Start tying off the tassels. I started by doing every other one. Once that is done flip the blanket over and tie off the rest.  You can do either double knots or overhand it totally depends on personal preference.
7. You’ve just made your very own no sew fleece blanket!

I finished my blanket in a day which for me was approximately two hours with breaks here and there. I can’t wait to make a few more in various sizes. I’ll be posting my results  here on my blog so be on the look out!

Inspired by Sue Berk’s daughter Rachael, who was born with arthrogryposis and spent 8 weeks in the NICU, our blankets are very soft and cozy and incorporate messages that make both baby and parent feel good.

I wish I had known about the books when my first child was much younger, she would have loved them and I wouldn’t have had to worry about her destroying any books. Just Boys & Girls is a wonderful Etsy shop that offers a variety of adorable attire for both boys and girls. I enjoyed browsing this shop and feasting my eyes on the huge variety of styles and patterns listed for purchase. The girls area of the shop offered all sorts of outfits and dresses perfect for numerous type of events and occasions. I couldn’t help but think how cute the Baseball fun baby/toddler girls dress was! How cute would that dress be for a trip to the local ball field?

I was able to review the Summer Dress for my daughter’s second birthday from Just Boys & Girls! This adorable off the shoulder dress is full of various shades of browns and pinks, making it perfect to wear anytime of the year in my opinion. This dress features adorable ruffle sleeves and ties off the top with ribbon ties. I love that though this dress fits well, it gives my daughter plenty of room to continue to wear and grow for a little while longer. I also like the fact that this dress is available in sizes 12mos to size 7!

I am Cheryl Ragan and originally from California, but currently living in Tennessee(my husband is from TN). I have been with ETSY since sept 2008, before that I was on ebay. I moved to ETSY because ebay did not afford me the opportunity to sell my clothes to the audience I wanted, ETSY has given me that opportunity.

2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?

The things I enjoy about my creations is my ability to mix and match colors and fabric types,as well as, being able to design clothing with a flare.

3. Apart from creating things, what do you do?

When I am not sewing(which is seldom), my husband and I do craft fairs. We are retired and we also enjoy the freedom retirement gives us by not having a defined regiment.

4. What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from my ability to see in my mind’s eye a dress design and how it will look finished.

Our future plans are to continue with my sewing and going to craft fairs and having a successful, but not overwhelming, business.

I was given the opportunity to review a Pippalily Toy Strap. This is wonderful, practical accessory no parent with a baby or toddler should be without! I am quite fond of this straps design. It’s very simple as it’s a fabric strap with Velcro fasteners at each end. Being a mom, I’ve purchased and used many brands of baby products for my daughter. Some I’ve been very happy with and others only so so. The Sassy Baby products line, I was given the opportunity to review from the company personally and I must say that I’ve been more than happy with all of the products they sent me to review and wanted to share my thoughts.

My daughter really enjoyed me adding this to her collection of bath toys! She has a lot of fun pouring the water into the top to make the wheel turn and the teeter totter rock back and forth! We love this toy and I have no cons at all! The suction has even been holding up fantastically to keep this toy in play on the wall of my bathtub! I’m not sure the peak age for this toy for a babies but I know my nearly two year old daughter loves it!

Sassy Count N Spell Appliques, Pink

This fun and colorful 36 piece set of letters a-z and numbers 0-9 help develop early reading and language skills. Bath appliques simply cling to tile and bath surfaces when wet. They are made from soft and durable foam and are large size for baby to easily grasp. Inspires imagination! Suggested retail price is $5.99

I love these appliques for the tub from Sassy Toys! Not only can bath time be fun, but it can be a fantastic learning experience as well! Right now my daughter is slowly learning her ABC’s and numbers and these have been a great visual tool in helping her memorize them! I’ve had no issues with these at all, they stick to the tub great and clean up really easy! I would not recommend these for younger babies as they are foam and your child could choke on them if teething or biting on them.

Touch & Talk Laptop

This is sweet little toy that kids in this day and age ( computers/laptops) will love and enjoy! I only wish I had this when my daughter was younger! I haven’t a doubt in my mind that my next child will simply adore this toy to it’s full potential! When my daughter was very young, she loved looking at the other baby (herself) in the mirror. That’s why I know a little baby would enjoy that factor of this along with all the bright cheerful colors. A few features my daughter, now almost two likes are that the buttons makes noises, musical sounds and say phrases those of which she repeats back. This no doubt is a great tool to help with learning words and colors in English as well as in Spanish!

Sassy Bucket Of Beads

These beads are fantastic and encourage fine motor skills as will as color and shape recognition! My daughter loves sitting with me as we put and take apart the beads making fun necklaces out of them. By far one of our favorite and most played with toys to this date!

These little snack pods are great! They are perfect for encouraging and promoting you child’s self-feeding skills. My daughter has no problem using these and they are so easy to load up and through in my purse of diaper bag! Must have and very affordable for two snack bowls!

I adore this set! When we go out this little set has and will always be going with us for our child! It’s got the perfect serving size compartment and I really like that the spoon stores in the lid of the big bowl as well as that the smaller bowls can fit snuggly into a compartment in the big bowl!

Adorable, affordable, handmade fashion that is play ground approved! I couldn’t ask for more in the outfits I try to find for my own daughter to wear. How blessed I was to have come across someone with those same exact thoughts and mission as Kathleen, a.k.a Auntie Bubbles for the clothes she personally creates and offers to Mom’s just like me on Etsy!

I considered myself blessed beyond means for the opportunity to review one of the many darling outfits she offers on her shop. I choose to go with a dress and the one I choose is titled Mooooove over leopards– Cows are back! I could have gone with a custom dress but I really adored the cow print. The bow added to this dress is pretty darling too and I love that it’s added as it’ll be fitted to it’s wearer especially my skinny little daughter! You can see from the photos of my daughter of just how sweet and sassy this dress is! I love the fact this dress can handle the playground or in my case the dirt and mud filled local tulip field!

1.Why did you decide to start doing this on Etsy and how long have you been?

I have worked in corporate America for 10 years. I was personally effected by the downturn in the market when my entire division was laid off. That’s when I decided to make lemonade out of lemons and turn something that I love to do into a business.

I’ve always had an idea of what type of clothing I was looking for, but couldn’t always find exactly what I had in my mind. That’s when I started making my own clothing. When my sister started having little girls, I started sewing for them. I had so much fun experimenting with fun, silly, loud fabrics…. stuff I couldn’t get away with, but a three year old could! My sister along with my friends with children always told me that I should start selling my creations, but I never really had the time. Now I have the time, and I’m loving it!

All of my designs are handmade with lots of love. Everything is machine washable and playground tested. I make skirts, dresses, Ts with ties and super fun pant suits. My niece, Alexandra, likes to call the pant suits her cha-cha diva outfits!

My goal is to always keep the prices of my clothes affordable for the average family. Some of the prices I see out there for children’s clothes are incomprehensible. At the end of the day, I want the kiddos that wear my clothes to be able to wear them to school/church and then run right out to the playground without worrying that they are too expensive.

Why Etsy instead of just having my own website?

Well, I just love the Etsy concept. Etsy’s mission is to ‘enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers’. I like the personal experience between the seller and the buyer. It’s a unique feeling to buy something made especially for you, something you don’t get at the mega-discount stores… and I like to contribute to that feeling.

2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?

I just love receiving orders from children. It’s amazing to see what their little minds think of! I also enjoy making outfits for special occasions like birthdays or holdidays. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that my handiwork will be a part of their special day.

3. Apart from creating things, what do you do?

When I’m not sewing away, I’m enjoying my English Springer Spaniel puppy named ‘Henry’. He’s finally learned that when I’m at my machine, sewing, I’m not getting up. So instead of bringing me every toy he has to try and get me to play, he just curls up and goes to sleep.

I have also been getting more involved with the community. I have been working on charity projects, like the Rady Children’s Hospital Pillowcase Project as well as volunteering to help the elderly.

4. What inspires you?

Everything! A funny moment with the kids, a fabric that I love, a custom order, a beautiful landscape, it just never ends!

5.In five years you’d like to be…?

I would love it if I could someday support myself completely with Auntie Bubbles income. I would also love to help others that were effected by the recession by giving them jobs too!

My daughter loves the Sweetie Pie Doll that we were sent. We’ve named the doll Faye Faye and she travels almost everywhere with my daughter. I’ve never before seen her take to a doll in such a way. Faye Faye does many things with my daughter  throughout the day, they read books together, Melody feeds her doll pretend foods, the doll travels with us when we go out, and once or twice Melody tried to bathe her in the the bathtub! I would not recommend a bath for this doll. This doll can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth but should never be fully immersed in water.

I love the weight of this doll and learned specifically that each doll is  filled with 1 pound of millet and wool to make him or her feel like a little real baby. Each of the Sweetie Pie Dolls are 13″ tall of which I think is the perfect size for my daughter. As you can see from the photo, the dolls clothes are made from cotton velour. It has hand sewn facial features, it has bangs, eyes, and a slightly smiling mouth. These dolls are recommended for children ages 1-4. These dolls are very special as they are fully customizable from skin , hair, clothing, and eye color. These dolls are created by a sew-at-home mom from Fresno, USA.

My husband and I are somewhat sensitive to certain scents and many other types of candles can really set off our allergies, so we really appreciate the benefits of beeswax!

My 18 month old daughter and I used this kit together to create such pretty candles! I first prepped the beeswax since it was stored in a cooler place with my blow dryer to make sure it was warm enough to roll. I then cut the wick to the proper size and then let my daughter help me roll each candle out! Since I was working with her, I decided to do the Simple candles but am really look forward to creating multi-colored, tapered, and candles of various heights and thickness! I’m eager to try to make a Christmas Tree styled candle too!

I think candles are wonderful gifts and how extra special if the receiver knew you made them yourself! I will most definitely be purchasing this kit again from The Toy Garden especially since I learned that they recommend purchasing their Stockmar Decorating Wax beeswax sheets for thinner pieces of wax to add detailed decorations to the candles. The possibilities are endless and what a fantastic craft to do with children both young and old!

As a homeschooler myself, I really appreciate that there is a whole section dedicated to supplies and products geared toward home education.
