DVD Review: Pocoyo – Fun and Dance

Pocoyo is a children’s show about a sweet little boy and his fun animal friends, Elly the elephant, Pato, Loula and Sleepy Bird. The show has short but cute and memorable skits that I guarantee that not only kids but adults too will fall in love with.
My children ages 3 and 1 years old where introduced to Pocoyo in his fun little world on the DVD ” Pocoyo- Fun and Dance a few weeks ago. It’s been a definite hit in our home. This DVD with a running time of about 50 minutes has a total of 7 stories: The Big Sneeze, Drum Roll Please, Umbrella Umbrella, A Mystery Most Puzzling, Double Bubble, Sleepy Bird’s Surprise, and Swept Away.
Each story is around 7-8 minutes long and teaches children important character building lesson such as the importance of sharing, friendship, and much more. I like that the stories are short, simple and straight to the point. The voice over narrative by Stephen Fry is great. As Pocoyo and his friends are interacting, the narrative voice over asks questions and explains how the characters feel, what they may want, and what they are doing. This is key and keeps children engaged as to what exactly may be happening.
I would highly recommend exploring the world of Pocoyo with your child. This show is short, sweet, and makes learning fun. It’s laid back feel is a desirable factor for parents that want something that’s not annoying or overly loud as we know that some shows geared toward children can often be.

Music Review: I Am Happy with Sukey Molloy
I’m excited to spread the news that Sukey Molloy, recent winner of a NAPPA, Children’s Music Web, Preferred Choice, and Mom’s Choice Awards winner is releasing her third music album on the 24th of April, “I Am Happy”.
Sukey’s latest album “I Am Happy” features 18 fun filled songs that make the CD about 40 minutes long. This album went over great with my children (ages nearly four and fourteen months old). As soon, as the CD started playing, my kids started acting out the movements mentioned in the songs, dancing, and singing along. The songs were pleasantly upbeat and not over the top, I was pleased for the mellowness and I loved seeing how interactive my children became with it.
A few of the songs that I’m a fan of are “The Counting Song”, a song that teaches children how to count to ten in English, Spanish, German, French, and Japanese! “Raindrops” a song that celebrates the rain (
which we see almost everyday in Oregon) and talks about what things to wear when out in the rain, and my daughter’s most favorite activity, puddle jumping!
The songs are catchy in lyrics and in tune. I’ve even found myself humming the songs through out the day! I love that I can see my children not only having fun but learning things in the process! Overall, we highly recommend ”I Am Happy” to parents and educators of children up to the age of five.

Review & Giveaway: Seventh Generation Diapers & The Lorax
If you and your children are a fan of Dr. Seuss, I’m sure you and your kids are getting pretty excited about The Lorax movie that will be hitting the theaters in just a few more days! If you know nothing about the Lorax storybook or movie, you should know that the aim overall is to encourage people to look at the impact that we have on the world around us and to respect and care for our planet. This is a message that I believe in strongly sharing with my children. And I quote from the book, “”Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not.”
Speaking of caring for our environment, I’m pleased to share that in partnership with Universal Studios’ motion picture debut of Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax*also known as the “Speaker for the Trees” who brings environmental truth and ecological hope to all, Seventh Generation will feature limited edition Lorax prints on all our diapers and training pants. These prints are intended to remind parents and caregivers of the lessons of The Lorax, and encourage family reading and environmental awareness while creating a few smiles. Discover (or rediscover) Dr. Suess’ The Lorax as you read about his legacy and messages of sustainability with your child, and inspire a new generation of environmentalists starting with your family!

Some pros about these new products are:

* Free & Clear diapers have improved more flexible tabs that provide even better fit
* Free & Clear training pants have an absorbent core made with more renewable, plant-based materials. They also feature stretchy, tear away side panels for a better fit and added convenience, as well as inner leak barriers for superior leakage protection

I personally adore Seventh Generation diapers, in fact they are all I will use on my children when they aren’t wearing cloth. I was given the opportunity to try the new Free and Clear diapers with improved softer tabs and better fit and was very happy with the results. My son is 14 months and he’s a very energetic and active little boy (running, climbing, and always on the go), these diapers are totally designed to prevent any leakage and I am pleased that we’ve had no negative issues at all. In fact, these diapers are all I will use other than cloth because they are great for the environment and for my son who has very sensitive skin.
