The Little Pim Book on Feelings is a great way to teach your child about how to read the expressions of people especially as your child gets older and is learning exactly how to put a word to the emotions they are feeling too. There are five feelings covered in the book which are: happy, scared, shy, sad, and surprised.  Not only that but your child will get the opportunity to learn each feeling word not just in English but in Spanish and French as well.

In this story, children will follow Pim the Panda through out the pages as he feels different ways. On one side of the page is Pim and on the other are three lift or pull out tabs which feature colored photographs of children expressing how they feel. My daughter and son enjoy this book but I’ve found that my daughter got a little confused between the emotion shy and scared which are closely similar. And my 16 month old son was deeply concerned with a baby girl who was crying in one of the pictures. He kept saying “oh no”, and proceeded to kiss the little girls picture so she would feel better. At first I was concerned but overall I think it’s healthy to share and talk about our feelings even with a child as young as my son.

At the end of the book, there’s a review of all the words learned in the multiple languages represented. Reading the line of Little Pim book has prompted me to check out the DVD offerings for my children too. What a lovely Mother’s Day, I’ve had this year. I was spoiled by hand drawn crayola crayon pictures from both my children, a new bag to carry a long all my knitting, fun new yarns, a delicious dinner of Fish Tacos, a decadent chocolate cake for dessert, a morning spent in the Word of God, and an afternoon surrounded by my family taking a hike through the woods. Good food, great company, and simple low key kinda day. I very much enjoyed being appreciated as a mommy.

For over a week now, my whole family has been battling a cold and stomach virus. Picking giveaway winners and certain blog post are being delayed but as we are on the mend, I hope to back to posting soon. I really hate that Oregon finally reached some very nice Spring temperatures but we didn’t get to go out and enjoy them this weekend. I have to remind myself that the rain won’t stick around forever and that there will be plenty of sunshine to enjoy with my husband and children in the next few months! I hope everyone else is doing well and that all these colds and sicknesses will finally clear out for the season!

Mothers have a special place in Christianity and within the family. From Biblical mothers (think Mary’s birth inside a barn) to moms of today, there’s no job quite so important as tending to your own personal flock. And, while some might deem Mother’s Day a “Hallmark holiday,” I personally think there’s no better reason to have a holiday than to celebrate the women in your life. But what to do this May when your family asks you how you’d like to celebrate? Here are some options for you and your family to consider.

• Scrapbook: This is an excellent option if you’re like me and have drawers full of current and old family photos. You don’t have to get to crazy with scrapbooking materials; even if you’re just slipping photos into photo albums, it can be a great bonding experience to look at family pictures. Your kids will ask about the setting and events in interesting snaps they come across, and this process can make you all feel more connected to each other and the family unit. • Have a picnic: Going out to eat is a tradition for many families on Mother’s Day. While this is a fine tradition, the best restaurants are often crowded and waiting for a table can take the fun out of the meal. Consider packing a lunch and hitting up a local park or even your backyard instead.  
• Make brunch: Or, as an alternative to the picnic idea, stay home and make brunch for mom. Whether it’s Belgian waffles, pancakes, or BLTs, all moms appreciate a little pampering in the kitchen from time to time. And don’t forget to clean up! 
• Go on a retreat: If you’re a spouse looking to reaffirm the bonds with your wife, consider going on a retreat for Mother’s Day weekend. You can hit up a cabin in the woods, go car camping, or book a weekend at a Christian retreat. Individuals with Christian counseling degrees can help you explore your spiritual growth as a couple and as individuals.
• Head to nature: Whether it’s a local beach or regional nature preserve, there’s nothing quite like getting away from all the screens in your life for a few hours. The other great thing about nature: the quiet! Have a nice walk around and enjoy the peace before you head back to your busy life.
