My Thoughts…

I know that Amish fiction seems to be all the trend right now and it can be a little overwhelming to know which book and by what author you should pick up to read. I’m going out on a limb to say that anyone that is in love with that genre or wanting to jump right in and give it a try should definitely pick up Beside Still Waters by Tricia Goyer!

This book, though it took me awhile to finish reading due to personal issues and lack of free time is one that you easily wouldn’t want to put down. I was deeply intrigued and my attention was completely held from chapter one to the very end.

The characters were well written as well as the description of the areas in which the characters lived and traveled too. I always appreciate having a visual painted beautifully for me in words when reading books. Though I’m not Amish myself, I felt I could relate a lot to the main character Marianna. She has many hard life decisions to learn how to handle from leaving everything she grew to know community wise heading away from home, and her faith. And the title Beside Still Waters is perfect as this book really sheds the light on the fact that God’s Grace is enough for us.  And what’s neat too is that this book is based on a true story.

Overall an exceptionally well written title and the ending of this story was such a cliffhanger! I’m totally looking forward to the sequel , Along Wooded Paths which is expected to be released this fall!

This book just keeps on giving as a bonus is that at the end of the book several Amish recipes were included! I plan on try out the Potato soup one for my family this week!
