About the book…

Otis and Sydney are the best of friends. This year, Otis wants to do something special for Sydney’s birthday. So he decides to throw a surprise party and invite all their friends. He mails the invitations, decorates the house, and bakes a cake, but when things don’t go as planned, how will Otis make sure that Sydney has the best birthday ever?

A sweet and tender tale by the New York Times #1 bestselling author of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and the Jellybeans series, Otis & Sydney and the Best Birthday Ever introduces young readers to two lovable bears who understand that friendship is the only thing needed to make any day special.

“Andreasen’s digitally colored pen-and-ink drawings nearly jump off the page, maximizing the similarities between the two unabashedly adorable bears and frequently arranging themselves in paneled vignettes whose balance further reinforces the harmony between the two—just right for this simple story of friendship for the very young.” —Kirkus Reviews

“Books don’t come much cozier or any less threatening than this.” –Booklist

My Thoughts…

Otis & Sydney & The Best Birthday Ever is a clever story of friendship put together story that will warm the heart of anyone. I enjoyed reading this book to my daughter! It’s been a great way to show and teach the benefits of being generous and kind to others in our own lives. In a twist of events in this story, things don’t quite go as planned but despite that, they have fun regardless and that’s what counts the most.

This is an adorable book that would be great to own. You can find this book on the Abrams Books website as well as many other sites online. You may also check your local bookstore if you are interested in sharing this book with your own children.

Butter Bell® Crock {review and giveaway}

The Butter Bell Crock

I recently had a new wonder added to my kitchen collection of must haves. This great product is called the Butter Bell which is also known as a more modern version of the original French butter crock. This product was made specifically to allow you to have easy spreadable butter anytime you need it!

I wasn’t really sure about the whole thing when I first heard about the butter crock.  But my entire thinking changed once I was able to personally try one out for myself.  I was sent a Retro Color & Matte Finish Butter Binell Crock in  Maraschino Red! I was in awe of the variety of styles and colors available and extremely happy that my little crock matches my kitchen theme perfectly as I am a huge lover of red.

How it Works!

So how does this modern marvel really work? Let me tell you that they are extremely easy and very simple to start and continue using.  There are two pieces to the crock, the interior piece which holds the butter and the exterior which holds approximately 1/3 cup of cold water. The water works as a seal keeping your butter fresh and spreadable.

Made from New Bone China, the highest quality ceramics available, the Butter Bell crock insures that under reasonable, correct usage, butter storage time can be up to 30 days, mind that you change the water out at least every three days.

Overall Thoughts…

I love my little Butter Bell Crock and use it quite often. I tend to make biscuits every few days and my daughter loves having toast with her breakfast so our crock is getting plenty of usage.  You have no idea how nice it is to not have to deal with a hard stick of butter when trying to apply to bread of any kind. The Butter Bell crock saves me so much time, it’s easy to use, care for, and looks absolutely lovely on my counter top and dining table.

Buy it!

I think every home should have a Butter Bell Crock and I guarantee after you have one of your own you’ll most definitely want to get one for a friend or family member! Shop online or check the store locator. You can purchase a crock for $22.95  but right now they have an awesome Holiday Special where you can buy two, get one free!  This offer is good until 12/15/10

The company that carrys Butter Bell also has many other wonderful products to check out! I’ve totally got my eye on the sugar bowls, creamers, and tea steepers!
