Miracle in Sumatra: The Story of Gutsy Gus {children’s book review}

About the Book:

In “Miracle of Sumatra,” author Jeanne McNaney follows, Gus, a young orangutan as he discovers his parents have been trapped by hunters who have come to Sumatra to hunt the orangutan. With the help of his friends, Maya, a little girl, and Gabriella, the guardian of the jungle, Gus sets out to save his parents and teach the trappers about the importance of their natural habitat in Sumatra.

About the Author

Jeanne currently resides in Old Greenwich, Conn., with her husband and three young children. Her first children’s book, “The Legend of Honey Hollow” (Ovation Books, January 2009), introduces children to environmentalism and the dangers of global warming. She has served on the board of Pathways, Inc., which provides housing for mentally ill adults. She currently sits on the board of governors for the We Are Family Foundation and is an active volunteer with the Old Greenwich School.

My Thoughts

The Miracle in Sumatra: The Story of Gutsy Gus is a story that teaches children a very important lesson in about caring for animals and taking care of the earth around them. Many questions will probably arise from children that read or have this book read to them. I’m quite certain this book will be a great learning tool in shaping the character of a child and in raising awareness about the environment and love and care for the endangered species

I really liked the  illustrations as they are very colorful and bright in which are very eye catching keeping both reader and listeners attention.

I look forward to reading this book to my daughter in a few more years time. She’s only about two and this book is recommended for children ages 4-8.

They never contain parabens, harsh soaps, artificial dyes or fragrances, phosphates, or toxins, so you don’t have to worry about what might be left behind on your pet or the environment. Exceptionally mild, effective, and safe for pets over 6 weeks old.

My Thoughts…

When I first got our cat, I wanted to find ec0-friendly shampoo for her and after much research, I found that Earth Bath was a good choice. After sometime, I was given the opportunity to review Earth Bath’s latest products which include Cat Wipes and the Cat Grooming Foam.  These products are so easy to use and my cat actually prefers these to a full on bath.

The Cat Grooming Wipes come in Green Tea scent and there’s also a product for hyper sensitive cats. I was sent the Green Tea wipes to use on my cat. This product is fantastic to use whether at home or on the road. You can easily wipe away dander, dirt and residual saliva in your finely furred friend’s coat. This product left our cat’s coat shinier & smelling great and she actually welcomed this unlike her baths!

The other product I tried out is the Cat Grooming Foam.  This product you can apply to your animal and then rub them down with a towel as there is no rinsing required! It also really reduces shedding! It’s so easy to keep your cat that much cleaner with Earth Bath!  I found myself using this often  right before people visited so my cat would be clean and smelling great!
