Adorable, affordable, handmade fashion that is play ground approved! I couldn’t ask for more in the outfits I try to find for my own daughter to wear. How blessed I was to have come across someone with those same exact thoughts and mission as Kathleen, a.k.a Auntie Bubbles for the clothes she personally creates and offers to Mom’s just like me on Etsy!

I considered myself blessed beyond means for the opportunity to review one of the many darling outfits she offers on her shop. I choose to go with a dress and the one I choose is titled Mooooove over leopards– Cows are back! I could have gone with a custom dress but I really adored the cow print. The bow added to this dress is pretty darling too and I love that it’s added as it’ll be fitted to it’s wearer especially my skinny little daughter! You can see from the photos of my daughter of just how sweet and sassy this dress is! I love the fact this dress can handle the playground or in my case the dirt and mud filled local tulip field!

1.Why did you decide to start doing this on Etsy and how long have you been?

I have worked in corporate America for 10 years. I was personally effected by the downturn in the market when my entire division was laid off. That’s when I decided to make lemonade out of lemons and turn something that I love to do into a business.

I’ve always had an idea of what type of clothing I was looking for, but couldn’t always find exactly what I had in my mind. That’s when I started making my own clothing. When my sister started having little girls, I started sewing for them. I had so much fun experimenting with fun, silly, loud fabrics…. stuff I couldn’t get away with, but a three year old could! My sister along with my friends with children always told me that I should start selling my creations, but I never really had the time. Now I have the time, and I’m loving it!

All of my designs are handmade with lots of love. Everything is machine washable and playground tested. I make skirts, dresses, Ts with ties and super fun pant suits. My niece, Alexandra, likes to call the pant suits her cha-cha diva outfits!

My goal is to always keep the prices of my clothes affordable for the average family. Some of the prices I see out there for children’s clothes are incomprehensible. At the end of the day, I want the kiddos that wear my clothes to be able to wear them to school/church and then run right out to the playground without worrying that they are too expensive.

Why Etsy instead of just having my own website?

Well, I just love the Etsy concept. Etsy’s mission is to ‘enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers’. I like the personal experience between the seller and the buyer. It’s a unique feeling to buy something made especially for you, something you don’t get at the mega-discount stores… and I like to contribute to that feeling.

2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?

I just love receiving orders from children. It’s amazing to see what their little minds think of! I also enjoy making outfits for special occasions like birthdays or holdidays. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that my handiwork will be a part of their special day.

3. Apart from creating things, what do you do?

When I’m not sewing away, I’m enjoying my English Springer Spaniel puppy named ‘Henry’. He’s finally learned that when I’m at my machine, sewing, I’m not getting up. So instead of bringing me every toy he has to try and get me to play, he just curls up and goes to sleep.

I have also been getting more involved with the community. I have been working on charity projects, like the Rady Children’s Hospital Pillowcase Project as well as volunteering to help the elderly.

4. What inspires you?

Everything! A funny moment with the kids, a fabric that I love, a custom order, a beautiful landscape, it just never ends!

5.In five years you’d like to be…?

I would love it if I could someday support myself completely with Auntie Bubbles income. I would also love to help others that were effected by the recession by giving them jobs too!
