Melody had decided that Mister Rat was unsuitable to have dinner with her dollies and dragged him away by his tail. I’m not sure why she put the necklace around him but she was pretty adamant that it had to stay on as she carried him across the room and placed him in a box.

I was given the opportunity as a Global Influence Member to shed the light on the fact that January is National Thyroid Awareness Month.

What is a Thyroid?

The thyroid is a small gland located in the middle of the lower neck, which produces hormones that regulate many functions including temperature, weight gain, and weight loss.  Many Americans experience various problems with the functioning of their thyroid.  Some red flags to watch for are:

• sudden weight gain or increase in body fat
• inability to lose weight despite proper diet and exercise
• fatigue, insomnia or restless sleep, anxiety or panic attacks
• gas, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation
• chronic sinusitis or lingering infections

It is important that people experiencing these warning signs see their physician to learn more.

For most of those that know me, know that my daughter was diagnosed with a thyroid problem after birth ( hypothyroidism). Since that time, I’ve studied up, joined support groups, and with the knowledge I know now, I’m more assured in the programs out there to help my child.

One online resource for those interested is the Fibro 360 Community – Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center.  This online community not only offers a network of support, but also resources to those seeking more information about fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and related disorders including those concerning the thyroid.

I adore Charm bracelets, they are fun and tell a story, if you so choose for them too. I’ve really been thinking about working on my own special bracelet that tells the story of my life after marriage thus far.
