I was thrilled when my friend Lindsey from a Kindred Sprit’s Thoughts, asked if I would review her parents Etsy shop “J Winterbower Glass Art”. Located not to far from me in Lebanon, Oregon Artist Jan and Joe Winterbower displaying the fine arts of the Pacific Northwest at it’s best. If you scoot on over to their shop you’ll find an array of handcrafted masterpieces such as glass beads, pendants, paper weights, lamp work marbles, and many more items. Once you see the beauty of their work, you’ll find it hard to believe that they’ve only been at it for just four years!

It’s really difficult for me to choose a favorite item in their store but if I would have to choose, I would definitely go with their marbles and paperweights. These pieces, come in the following styles: vortex, galaxy, floral, as well as team marbles! If you don’t see something you like, I’m sure they’d be more than happy to fulfill a custom request.

I was sent a stunning rainbow vortex marble to review and I must say that  the photos surely don’t do  it justice. I entirely could get lost looking into it.  This marble is now sitting atop of a shelf in my dining area. What a conversation piece it will be and what beautiful heirloom  to pass down to my children.

A Few Words From the Artist…

1.Why did you decide to start doing this on Etsy and how long have you been?
I love the idea of Etsy, all things handmade, by folks like myself that have a passion for their craft! We’ve had a shop since 2007, but just recently have been really putting our foot to the grindstone. My wife does all the computer work. That’s the real work.

2. What do you enjoy the most when creating your products?
My wife and I both race to the kiln in the mornings to see what God has inspired us to create. That’s a lot of fun, then we can talk about it over our coffee together.

3. Apart from creating things, what do you do?
I love to read biographies, but mostly spend time with my beautiful bride.

4. What inspires you?
I always look to God’s creation for colors and textures. Inspiration is everywhere I look.

5.In five years you’d like to be…?
I’d love to be able to know the properties of glass so well that I could make just about anything my mind could conceive. That will take a lifetime. I’d also like to share what I know with others that want to learn.
