Baby Signs Potty Training Review and Giveaway (closed)

Potty training is a big deal and it’s not be taken lightly. I know the whole potty training thing can be very time consuming and frustrating but with the right mindset and help this transition can be a lot smoother.
Over the years it has surprised me that the pull up training pants have added bigger sizes for older children whom possibly aren’t potty trained yet. We all know the simple fact that children are eager to learn and enjoy getting praise from their parents so we have to work this into potty training.
I recently was given the opportunity to review a Baby Signs(R) Potty Training Kit with my 15 and 1/2 month old daughter. This kit is designed to have your toddler potty trained before they are two years old! Any help offered, I’ll take as I know the whole potty thing can be confusing.
Baby Signs combines sign language, engaging animation and rewards to entice your toddler to come aboard the “Potty Train.” In the box is a comprehensive manual explaining the benefits of teaching sign language to young children, a Potty Train DVD, book, reward stickers and a wooden train whistle. The entire system retails for $39.95, which is a steal if you ask me!
I had already been talking about and showing my daughter the toilet and what goes into it before we got this kit. I put the dvd into our player and watched my daughter eagerly as she took everything in from the happy babies to the bright colors and cheerful music. She was pretty excited about the potty train song, she started dancing around and giggling every time it played. Each baby in the dvd went potty and my daughter sat their watching and clapped when the babies clapped on the screen after they went potty.
I’ve only been using this video for two weeks and I know things are going to take time. My daughter took off her diaper the other day, did the sign for “more”, went pee pee on the floor, and then clapped as if she did something good. I’m glad she is grasping the signs but she needs to learn that we clap if we are on the toilet. Hehe. She’ll get there eventually and the rewards will be great!
The Baby Signs(R) Potty Training Kit has definitely got my daughter more interested in the potty and the sooner out of diapers the better! I would recommend this kit to all ready to work with their child to achieving the goal of potty training. I would say that if your child already knows some baby sign language, this kit would be a plus!

We do basic signs with out littlest, as we had great success with his sister (the previous babe). Although we don’t focus on it a ton, it is SUCH a help to be able to ask if they want “more”, etc. I imagin it will be a great help with potty training, too!

My little one loves to sign and has been doing it for several months. I think it makes him feel confident but most of all happy to be able to express things that he sees and needs.

I have been trying real hard to potty train my second child, but it has proven a real challenge. She enjoys being the baby of the family and does not want to do anything that is worthy of a “big girl”. Ah! I need help!
I suscribed by email.
I will say that I haven’t started potty training my 2-year-old because I don’t feel he’s ready. He doesn’t answer questions so doesn’t answer if I ask him if he needs to go potty or poop. But he’s one in bigger training pants (because he’s a big boy not older).
I’ve been signing with him since he was about a year old (I was in school before then and didn’t know how to teach him and all of his daycare providers). I know it’s helped with eating: more, all done, milk, etc.
I would love the chance to help him better understand potty training using signs and the signing video.

I run a daycare and started using the Potty Training kit with a 2 year old girl and she is now going regulary on the potty. The little kids like the video also and will be trying soon. I would love the potty training kit to let the parents borrow at home to help reinforce what we learn at daycare.
I’m dreading potty training, so if this will help my son communicate better, then I want it!
Our son is adopted from Russia (at 20 months) and sign language helped bridge some of our language frustration as he has adjusted to being in our care and learning English. This potty training kit would be fun for him because he loves learning new signs. He is almost 2 1/2 years old now so we would benefit from using the kit soon!

My oldest 2 sons are twins. Potty training them was about the hardest thing I’ve ever done! I’m getting ready to start with their younger brother. He’s not talking much at all yet, so I like the idea of signing with him. Thanks!
I’d like this kit to help out a friend whose daughter is not quite getting the hang of potty training.

We have been working on sign since my daughter was 3 months (we are not as consistent as I would like to be but she has learned milk and change. She is 8 months now and we have just started some really basic potty training. This would be perfect.
I want this kit because my daughter is just starting to potty train and it would be very helpful!

I did much more signing with my first, and I really need to step it up with my 17 month old- the grunts are getting a little old!
Im a grandma and trying to teach my special needs grandson how to use the potty. Definately need any and all help I can get!!!
We haven’t yet begun potty training, but we have had success with signing. Right now, DD can sign ‘yes,’ ‘all done,’ ‘dog,’ more,’ and ‘mom.’ She has a sign for dad, but it is one she came up with on her own
Thank you for this giveaway — we’re eager to start training!!
One of my little ones had a frog potty. The eyes sacred her so much that she wouldn’t use it unless the frogs eyes were covered.

Pretty sure that it is time to start potty training since MJ stood up yesterday on her Alphabet Train right after I took off her diaper and went potty! LOL!
From past experience girls are easier than boys to potty train. I’d like to win this kit as I am beginning to potty train my youngest son and am looking for some new ideas/techniques.
Thanks for the chance!

Looking forward to potty train my daughter. She just turned two a couple of months ago and is starting to show signs of interest.
I would love this. We haven’t started potty training yet, but will soon. We have started signing and it is going pretty well.
My daughter received the Mealtime signs as a gift, she learned all 5 signs in a week. She is 20 mths old and showing all the signs that she is ready, but does not communicate w/ me till after its too late. I feel if she can learn the signs related to potty training we will have such an easier time and she’ll be potty trained before she can really talk.
I would love to have this because my son is just about ready to start potty training & I would like the help!!!
I’m having a hard time training my son so I would love to have this! So far we are using the have nothing on method but it’s not going to well.

What can I say about our potty training experiences? My first tried off/on until she was about 3 years old when she finally learned to stay dry all day and night. Easy peasy. My second is currently potty training, but is having a hard time – she has ALOT of accidents, but I know she will finally get it one day soon. Here’s to wishful thinking. My third is currently in cloth diapers, but to make matters more difficult, he has failed all his hearing tests since birth…so everything is going to be more difficult, including potty training. Uh-oh. That’s why I need this Baby Signs Potty Training Kit. Not only will it help finish the job of potty training my second child, but it will also come in handy when the time comes to potty train my third, possibly deaf child. Thank you for the opportunity to make our lives a little easier by communicating with each other!
I think my second child is ready @ 2yrs. He like to watch his older brother and shows a lot of interest
I’d love to win this cause I will be haveing a baby soon and could use this.
I dont have any experiences potty training yet but I will soon! I’d love this kit because we do other baby signing in this house (it has been amazing!) and I think using this for potty training would be awesome as its just continuing on watch she has already learn’t.
I want it because my little man will be potty training all too soon. My daughters potty training experience did not go well at all, she showed interest early but wanted nothing to do with it after that!

We had a hard time potty training our first daughter..I’m hoping our second one isn’t as hard and if I won this it might make it even easier.
Potty training — we’re just at the beginning. Our daughter will pee or poop in the potty only when she wants to (usually for chocolate). No desire to do this on a consistent basis — just when it’s to her advantage
With signing, I can’t say enough. My daughter signed at 9 months and the signing comes in handy all the time as a toddler when she is too emotional for words.

I’ve started teaching my baby twins some signs. They don’t make signs yet, but I think they recognize a couple of them already. I want to win this to ease communication during potty training, especially since my Ped suggests possibly starting at 18 months. Thanks!
Our little boy will be 2 in December and he has been asking to use the potty. He knows what it’s for, but doesn’t seem to know how to go when he’s on it. I don’t think he can go on command yet.
