As Sue mentioned above, authors walk a fine line when writing sequels to achieve just the right balance between including  backstory and not boring readers of the original novel with a data dump of information. 

I&#039;m glad you noticed the redemption theme . . . and liked it :) Just goes to show that sometimes we need to look deeper than the cover of a book; vampires/ werewolves can be included in a Christian worldview novel and not offend readers.</description>

		<description>Yes. I think every author of a series strives to make each book work as a  standalone but it&#039;s simply not easy to do. I know Stephanie Myer took a lot of heat for putting too much backstory to catch readers up in her following books. Reviews were mixed. Those who read the first book hated it. Even those who hadn&#039;t read the first book thought it was a bit much. Read mine in order for sure if you can. :) 

This series has overwhelmingly wowed general market readers, horror and otherwise and surprisingly appeals to those Christian readers who favor targeted CBA fiction. I&#039;m happy to have both enjoying my stories. :)</description>
