Music Review:Kenny Loggins: All Join In!

Kenny Loggins
As part of a One2One Campaign, I received a copy of Kenny Loggins newest family CD  called “All Join In!” to review. This cd is being soon released to public from Walt Disney Records.

Kenny Loggins was a little bit before my time but I recognize him from songs featured in classic movies like Top Gun (Danger Zone ), Footloose ( who could forget that song?), and I’m Alright from the movie Caddyshack. Artist Kenny Loggins is also recognized for his work on his album “Return to Pooh Corner” which is a best selling children album of the last 20 years.

This new cd by Kenny features songs that adults as well as children will enjoy singing together, especially if fans of oldies from artist like the Beatles, Randy Newman, and a few other well known artist.

My Thoughts…

I enjoyed Kenny’s twist on songs like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” as well as the song “There is a Mountain” which features accompaniment by Kenny’s 11 year old daughter! I really liked the song Moose n’ Me written specifically for this album about Kenny’s first dog.

Each of the songs are fun and upbeat and I’m sure would be loved by both parents and their children! I’m encouraged that this cd has been a family project as Kenny’s kids can be heard accompanying their dad. I’ve nearly no objection to this CD but  am not a fan of the song Gandhi/Buddha due to religious beliefs.

Kenny Loggins and his musical partner Jim Messina will embark on a national tour August 20. Click here for more info. For the latest news, tour dates and info check out KennyLoggins.com, Facebook and Twitter.

Veiled Freedom by J. M. Windle

314754: Veiled Freedom Veiled Freedom
By J.M. Windle / Tyndale House

Naive and idealistic, relief worker Amy Mallory arrives in Kabul ready to change the world. She soon discovers that as a woman in Afghanistan, the challenges she faces are monumental. As the new security chief to the Minister of the Interior, former Special Forces veteran Steve Wilson is disillusioned to find that the country he fought to set free has fallen into its old habits of greed and corruption. Afghani native Jamil returns to his homeland seeking a job while his painful past continues to haunt him. All three search for truth…and freedom…but at what cost?

My thoughts …

Veiled Freedom is one of those books that draws you into the story and you find yourself not wanting to put it down. Author Jeannette Windle has done an excellent job in capturing her readers with an impacting story of real characters dealing with very real situations. The intricate detail is spot on placing you right there visually in each atmosphere and  situation.

Not many books lately have drawn me in as this one has. I found myself learning lots of new things and questioning others. This book is a perfect story of perseverance and hurt and trials.

If you like realism, love, trust, friendships, action, adventure, twist and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat, then this book is for you! I will definitely be reading more titles by this author.

Two Year Blogoversary!

blogverse
In celebration of my blogs two year birthday, I will be celebrating it all month with reviews from great companies, giveaways (because I love my readers), and personal post to wrap it all together.

A little information about my blog is in order! So enjoy learning as I answer the following questions!

How or why did it start?

I have been blogging for quite some time on the internet. I had a Pleonast, Xanga, and a Live Journal blog before I owned my own domain and created this blog with Word Press. Connected2Christ” was started in general to keep in touch with my family whom live in Georgia and it was also a means to promote my graphic designing abilities. Little did I know that it would take off like it has this year…being a mommy honestly changes a whole lot more than I thought it would.

Where did the name come from?

Connected2Christ was an email name I came up with in the year 2000. It was something that stuck with me. Through God, all of His children are connected to him, never being alone, and if seeking Him will be guided in where we should go. I am leaving my blog in His hands, thus the name is suitable and it won’t be getting changed anytime soon.

“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” ~ 1 John 4:7

How has it grown in a year?

My blog went from weekly updates of my life and several paid advertisements to help support my family, to a blog of motherhood, a blog of information, an even more personal blog though littered with reviews and advice. I’ve really enjoyed reviewing products and sharing my thoughts with others. I recall as a first time mother, I didn’t know what to purchase, etc… for my child. I really wish I was turned on to the world of blogging before my little one was born, it would have extremely helpful in hearing opinions from several points of views before purchasing or trying something new on/for my child.

Where do I want my Blog to go?

I’d like to eventually have a bigger readership, and I hope to continue to keep adding helpful content. I am working on sharing more encouragement from the Word of God to my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I know for myself, sometimes it’s just a simple verse or biblical reminder that really jump starts or lifts my day and I want to be able to offer that here as well as offering prayer to those who requests it.

I would like to meet and form relationships with other bloggers out there too! (If you ever want to chat, drop me a line! )

…And a question to you my readers, what would you like to see more of here?
