I came across Bla Bla Kids about a year ago. My oldest sister was looking to buy one of the cute little knitted Bugaloo dolls Lee-Lee Plum for her first born daughter.  Little did I know at the time that Bla Bla is one of those companies that has been thinking green long before the trend caught on! Since 2001, Bla Bla has used natural fibers and eco-friendly practices. They are mom-friendly too as they’ve hired 200 knitters in Peru who are getting a leg up in the world thanks to holding a well-paying job. They are the first Green handmade toy company to receive the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award 2009.

I was able to review one of their sweet knitted dolls, Pig Rosalie. My daughter loves this doll, she drags her around everywhere, even to bed! This is very soft, and squishy, meaning that in a good way. She also stays together well in the wash. She got to take the plunge since my daughter was sick last week and I didn’t want any germs to spread about or stay contained in the doll. She held up well in the washer and was laid flat to dry.

Among the adorable  dolls that can be found at Bla Bla, you can also find backpacks, clothing, blankets, and more wonderfully knitted items decked in bright striped polka dotted cheerful colors.

Any unique item over at Bla Bla would make a wonderfully enchanting gift that would hold up well and be cherished for years and years to come.

About Rock of Ages

New Line Records just hammered the in-store release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of five-time Tony Award nominated “ROCK OF AGES.” For those of you not in the know, Rock of Ages is the new Broadway musical starring American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis. Set in 1987 in a legendary Sunset Strip rock club, a small-town girl meets a big-city dreamer and they fall in love to the greatest metal songs of the 80′s. The musical is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and more.

My thoughts:

If you are a big fan of 80′s music, then this CD may just be for you. I was born the tail end of that era and totally bypassed  the big hair, crazy fashion,  and  wild rock music. You won’t catch me dead in any of the spandex, tight mini skirts, high heels pumps and thigh high boots from that era. I don’t think I’ll ever use that much hairspray either.  I did particularly enjoy Nintendo, Rainbow Bright, Ghost Busters, and all those other classic shows, video games, and movies though!

We are here to talk about music not my love for Mario…back to business.  Rock of Ages is a brand new musical Broadway show and cd featuring season 4 of American Idols contestant Constantine Maroulis whom was one of my personal favorites that season. I still remember his awesome performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. He plays a big part in this musical.

Sadly, I’m not the biggest fan of this CD or show though it obviously does rock the house, so to speak. From a christian stand point I’m not fond of the show or the cd due to the following facts;

• Suggestive dialogue and movements
• Scantily clad women and men
• Language
• God’s name taken in vain
• Sex Outside of Marriage
• Cross Gender/bondage
•  A character returns from the dead as some sort of winged angel

I was quite disappointed. Morally this cd is not for me but it may be the bees knees for someone else.
