Forgiveness frees us to get on with our lives! We can all benefit from letting go of our anger, and the 101 personal, touching stories in this collection will help you see the power of forgiveness and how it can change your own life.Whether it’s forgiving a major wrong or a minor blunder, forgiving someone is healing and frees you to move on with your life. You don’t have to forget or condone what happened, but letting go of your anger improves your wellbeing and repairs relationships. You will be inspired to change your life through the power of forgiveness as you read the 101 stories in this book about forgiving others, changing your attitude, healing and compassion.

We all have stories to share and one of forgiveness can be extremely powerful because it goes against our first response.  The response being to close the door and harbor anger. But by doing this, we are only haunted by it’s affects. Affects which over time creates bitterness and clouds up all remaining sunshine in our lives.

It’s a hard lesson when we realize that often life isn’t all we expect it to be.  It’s full of pain and hurt. Everyone has their own things to deal with but sometimes we just are’t sure where to turn for help and healing.  In Chicken Soup: The Power of Forgiveness there are numerous stories shared that give hope in moving forward and not letting paindefeat us.

Each story shared is roughly about 3-4 pages each. There’s a title followed by a quote that goes with the story. These stories are shared and written by and from not just every day average people like you and I but also from more well known people like Anthony Anderson for instance.

There are eleven sections varying with how many stories are in each. The section titles are:

  • Lessons on Forgiving Fathers
  • Forgiveness between Mothers & Children
  • Learning to Live with Family Through-Marriage
  • Patching Up Rifts with Siblings
  • When Bad Things Happen in Love and Marriage
  • Forgiving Friends and Colleagues
  • Lessons from the People You Meet
  • When a Crime Has Been Committed
  • ]The Importance of Self-Forgiveness
  • A Poem that Says It All
  • Bonus Stories about the Power of Forgiveness

This book is sure to inspire you to let thing go and keep you hooked in reading story after story. There are 101 stories but at only a few pages each, one can easily read this book in a couple of days if not sooner. I like this book a lot because it’s a reminder that we aren’t alone! I would certainly recommend this title!

 My Thoughts…

This is a beautiful Bible. I can tell a lot of care and consideration went into the creation.  It lays flat so it’s easy to manage when studying. The leather cover keeps the Bible protected and is sure to last for a long time. The ribbon page marker is helpful in keep my place.

I feel that it’s a good choice for study. I like that not only am I reading the Word of God but also learning about the time and culture. When learning about things historically I feel I can relate in some way and I tend to be reminded to  have a greater appreciation for all the privileges I have today.

I’m no Bible scholar but I feel that everything is delivered in such a way that most anyone could comprehend it.  I have very much enjoyed exploring scripture in its Jewish And Early Christian context. The many features  of this study Bible are excellent and I feel that it certainly trumps the others that I have! I do certainly recommend it!

The Identical DVD Review & Giveaway

The Identical is an enjoyable movie.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but was thoroughly impressed. My first thought that it was a movie about Elvis but it’s not. It’s based on that era starting first in the great depression and moving  through to the 1970’s.

I appreciated that in the movie, even though the character is raised the son of preacher it, isn’t overly religious feeling.  God is quite present and the biggest message that can be taken away is that if God is in your dreams, nothing can stand against them.

Well known actors such as Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Seth Green, and Blake Rayne do a great job. They display the  struggles, joyful moments,  and deep emotions very well.  I feel many people will be drawn into seeing the film after recognizing such big names.

It’s a story of the importance of family, finding your way, and letting go. It’s heart-felt, touching, and completely  safe & appropriate for the whole family to watch together. I would highly recommend it!

There is over 85 minutes of bonus content including “Making The Identical,” Behind the Scenes, and Deleted Scenes! Rated PG / Approx. 107 minutes

There’s also a movie sound track which features songs spanning the 50,60’s, and the 70’s! All are quite appropriate and great listens!

Giveaway & Review: Buck Denver asks…What’s in the Bible Volume 10: Jesus is The Good News!

whatbible10Let VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer and a bunch of hilarious new friends explain the entire Bible to your kids in this groundbreaking fast-paced and fun-filled DVD series. Includes TWO 25 minute episodes: God’s Perfect Timing – Buck Denver and crew learn about the 400 years between the Old and New Testaments and how Jesus arrives at just the perfect time & The Messiah Has Come! – Learn about the life and ministry of Jesus-how He died for us and rose again to launch the kingdom of God in the world and in us!

Our Thoughts…

Buck Denver asks…Volume 10: Jesus Is the Good News! is an excellent DVD to share with children, especially during the Holiday season. I say this because in celebrating Christmas as believers we are celebrating Christ, God’s gift to us. I feel it’s very important for children to see Him as more than just a babe in a manager. This collection teaches all about Jesus and what’s He’s done for us.

On this collection the Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke & John are explained and discussed. These books show us that Jesus’ arrival was perfect in timing! We also learn very much about God through Jesus’ life & ministry while here on the Earth from the promise of a Saviour to His ultimate sacrifice for us!

Phil Vischer ( creator of the VeggieTales) has done an excellent job is explaining all of this in ways children can understand easily. There’s puppets, flash animations, catchy songs, but aside from all that, the DVD explains much in a serious manner and encourages children if they have questions about any of the topics like salvation to talk to a parent, church leader, etc. I think it’s good that was suggested instead of praying a prayer right there and then not knowing what they should do next in their walk with Christ.

Things that were covered included: How the Power of Sin & Death Were Broken, That we all became sons & daughters of Christ, Jesus showed His Authority on Earth, That in the future there will be no evil and a New Kingdom of God is awaiting us, and much more. I would suggest watching one out of the two twenty-five minute episodes at a time and then discussing it before moving on. I appreciate there was a family discussion guide included with the DVD with great questions to direct conversations.

In addition to the DVD, there some fabulous extras found on the What’s in the Bible website to use and incorporate with watching the DVD. There’s coloring sheets, family discussion guide to back up what was learned and covered on the DVD, and more to print out absolutely free!

My children are quite fans of the series and we will continue to watch and discuss it! My daughter is 6 and she’s been asking more and more questions about God. I’m glad I’ve got this series to turn too for help in explaining and answering her! think this DVD is best suited for children age 5-10 years old and it’s really great for the whole family to enjoy together during this time of the year. We’ve been fan of this series for several years now and recommend this title as well as the others available highly.
