New Year by Rich Lo is a book that I feel many children locating to a new school or country can relate too. In this story, we meet a young boy that has relocated from China to America. The story itself is based on the childhood experiences of the author/illustrator Rich Lo and his immigration to America. The differences to adjust are displayed throughout the tale in a way young children can understand.
Another year has passed and that means it’s typically time to evaluate how things are going in your life and deciding what to add, take away, or work on. Areas that this covers of most importance in my life include spirituality, family life, homeschool, fitness, and the means to bring in money to contribute to needs of my family through my blog, knitting, and graphic design skills.
I feel that this post would grow far too lengthy if I chose to go over each of my goals for the year. Instead, I’ll be sharing in separate moderate sized posts through out the month of January, if all goes as planned. I know things are bound to change as well. If I learned anything in my almost 30 years it’s that life is ever changing and typically doesn’t go as we expect it to.
A verse however I’m keeping fixed upon for my life as well as the life of my family members right now that I want to share is as follows:
To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. – 2 Thessalonians 1:11–12
My ultimate goal is to become more like Christ in all that I do and to share His love with those around me with the gifts I’ve been given. I’m seeking fervently less of me and more of Him.
Another verse I’ve continued to keep in mind is:
“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!”. Psalm 115:1
I am trying hard to start my day in prayer as well as in the word of God. The kids are getting older and I’m finding it easier to find time for Bible Study. I feel that starting the day out in this way is encouraging and it gives me hope during the tough times. Even if I can’t find time to open the Bible, I am aiming to memorize scripture and pray much more.
Do you have a goal you are aiming to make habit during 2015?
