Sonic Underground Volume 2 Collector’s Edition!

Ncircle just released a collector’s edition of Sonic Underground Volume 2, 3 disc set edition of everyone in my household’s favorite hedgehog Sonic!  I grew up playing Sonic the Hedgehog on the SEGA Genisis system and shortly after began watching the cartoon on Sunday mornings. Being fans of video games, Sonic is no mystery to my own children. They also like this character whether playing games featuring solely him or in those where he makes a guest appearance.

NCircle Entertainment Holiday DVDs for Kids! #Win ( Giveaway)

ncircle

We are weeks away from the month of December and during this time I start pulling out our favorite seasonal DVD’s from our home movie library to watch together. My daughter age 6 and son who is almost 4 are a few years apart in age but I’m pleased that most of the offerings by NCircle entertainment are enjoyed by both of them!

In the evening, we’ve been dawning our pajamas, sweet snacks, and snuggling up together on the couch  with the selection of movies I’m sharing in this post below! Each are very different but spread the joy and cheer of the Holiday season in their own great ways!

The Snowman

NcircleSnoman

One crisp, winter morning, a young boy wakes up to find a thick blanket of snow has covered the ground as far as the eye can see. Filled with excitement, the boy decides to build a snowman using a tangerine for his nose, coal for his buttons and eyes, and tops him off with a hat and scarf. Later that night, at the stroke of midnight, the snowman comes to life! The young boy and the snowman embark on a magical adventure of discovery where the snowman explores the young boy’s world and in return he takes him flying to his home in the North Pole. Based on Raymond Briggs’ book, The Snowman is a family classic for generations to enjoy.

This DVD and story is one of my favorites. It’s sweet, magical, an serene! There’s not much speaking in the movie but there doesn’t need to be because the animation and story truly speaks for itself.

The flick is great and well loved by my family. The bonus features which include The Story of the Snowman & Alternate Introduction from David Bowie. Runtime is 50 minutes.

Filmed live at New York City’s The Beacon Theatre, celebrate the season with the colorful cast of characters singing their hits, including “It’s Wintertime,” “Every Snowflake’s Different, Just Like You” and a holiday version of everyone’s favorite “Party in my Tummy!” The DVD includes special appearances by superstar Leslie Hall and the one and only Santa Claus!

Runtime is 60 minutes and totally great fun to be had to get the whole family dancing and singing . Though, I wouldn’t recommend watching this one before bed!

Octonauts: The Very Vegimal ChristmasNcircleOctonautsXmas

On this exciting seasonal themed DVD, viewers will join the Octonauts as they celebrate the holidays ! The Vegimals’ plans for a Christmas feast aboard the Octopod are interrupted when the Octonauts become entangled in a gigantic blob of sea snot! The holiday excitement continues when the Octonauts travel to Professor Inkling’s childhood home, an undersea mountain, but soon discover that a rockslide has endangered the local creatures, including Inkling’s nephew, Squirt! Can the Octonauts rescue the creatures and save Christmas in time?

My son and daughter ages almost and 6 1/2 years old totally adore the Octonuats! My kids really like all the exploring, rescuing, and seeing their favorite characters doing their part in protecting all sorts of animals found in the sea! This holiday offering was well welcome especially by my little boy. It was exciting to learn about Ocras in the Artic and so much more! As a mom and home educator, I’m liking the educational value of this DVD quite a bit! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend not just this DVD but the entire series!

This DVD is 70 minutes long, you can easily sit and watch all the episodes or break it up and watch one at a time. There are a total of four episodes, bonus features teaching kids more about the marine life, and two fun karaoke music videos!

Caillou’s Holiday MovieNcircleCalliou
When winter comes to Caillou’s house, this curious 4-year-old tackles all kinds of big boy activities like helping Daddy shovel snow, making holiday presents for his family and even discovering how other little boys and girls around the world celebrate the season! Filled with magical moments seen through a small child’s eyes, this delightful story will enchant your entire family.

Children will learn with Caillou about different Holiday seasons around the world,  advent calendars, and things we often do leading up to the big day! I really liked this DVD offering and it showed time spent with family & giving to others. It’s endearing, educational, and fun to watch. My son especially enjoyed it. I would recommend to see it after Thanksgiving as the movie shows everything Calliou and his family does two weeks before Christmas time.  Runtime: 1 hour 13 minutes & there are many great bonus features such as holiday songs and an interview!

NCircle-Entertainment-Logo-e1412716656424

If  you are looking for some fun as well as educational media to back up as well as introduce certain learning concepts, you’ll want to check out NCircle entertainment! The following DVD’s are perfect for children age 2 to around 6 years old and range in numerous differences. There’s music and dancing, science, exploration, ABC’s, travel, and more!

ncircle3

The Wiggles: Apples & Bananas – On this DVD, The Wiggles feature many nursery rhyme songs. My kids are 6 and nearly 4 but still love the Wiggles though the group is geared more toward the younger crowd. Most of the songs my kids knew already but still enjoyed seeing each sung and acted out. The DVD is 65 minutes long and there are 22 songs total on it. Special features include a photo gallery and a episode from the Wiggle! TV Series about washing your hands.

Our favorite songs on this collection are This Little Piggy Went to Market, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and This Old Man! Overall it’s a great collection of songs and kids can learn numbers, reasoning, problem solving, communication, and literacy skills in fun musical way!

ncircle5

Octonauts: Deep Sea Mission – On this exciting DVD, join the Octonauts as they explore the hidden depths of the Midnight Zone! Peso must conquer his fears to treat a Vampire Squid! Dashi and Inkling go head to head with hungry Gulper Eels! Then, Barnacles, Kwazii and crew must rescue sea creatures before an underwater volcano erupts!”

My son and daughter ages 3 and 6 years old totally adore the Octonuats! My kids really like all the exploring, rescuing, and seeing their favorite characters doing their part in protecting all sorts of animals found in the sea! They make the dark somewhat unknown of the ocean a lot less scary for kids to learn about and that’s real winner. I love the take away due to the fact my kids will start spouting off random ocean creature facts throughout the day.

This DVD is 70 minutes long, you can easily sit and watch all the episodes or break it up and watch one at a time. There are a total of six episodes and a bonus feature teaching kids more about the marine life in six Creature Reports.

As a mom and home educator, I’m liking the educational value of this DVD quite a bit! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend not just this DVD but the entire series!

ncircle4

Cat in the Hat: Show & Tell Sure is Swell! – My children ages 6 and 3 years old, girl and boy, like the Show & Tell Sure Is Well DVD! There’s a Spanish language option as well as English and runtime is 60 minutes.

I like that you can choose to play a couple of the adventures one day and save the others for later. We for the first time sat and watched the DVD with five episodes from start to finish and later discussed the seasons of the year, migration, growing up and changing, and how we see with our eyes! I know they are learning because my kids are always going around telling people facts they’ve learned!

ncircle2

Animal Atlas: Animal ABC’s – This DVD is a bit beyond my nearly 4 year old and 6 1/2 year old. It definitely has a good educational value though. Children not only can learn their ABC’s but will learn facts and be able to recognize specific animals. There are recognizable songs played throughout with lyrics pertaining to ABC’s and about the animals as well as insects. The imagery and animal scenes are interesting and the video quality looks good.

After going through the alphabet, simple words are spelled out and taught. So children will learn simple spelling too! My kids did enjoy seeing the animals but I’m not sure how big the returning playability will be for my kids but imagine it would appeal to kids who are still learning the things specified. Runtime is 60 minutes.

ncircle1

Sid the Science Kid: The Ruler of Thumb – Sid the Science Kid: The Ruler of Thumb – On this DVD, Sid teaches kids all about how to create charts, gather data, and much more in a fun and interested way. Not just scientific facts are learned about but the tools most scientist use as well such as rulers, magnify glasses!

There are four episodes which are The Sticker Chart, The Rolie Poliee, Enough with the Seashells, & The Whale Episode. DVD runtime is 115 minutes with additional bonus content. There’s a bonus music CD that has 9 songs from the series! My 3 1/2 year old son was very interested in watching this DVD and has asked to see it numerous times. He really liked the episode on charts and wants to make one for himself!

Room on the Broom DVD Giveaway

roombroom1

The Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler adaption from storybook to animated film is done quite well. I admit honestly that I couldn’t expect anything less from the creators of The Gruffalo and the Gruffalo’s Child. This film such as the storybook itself drew both my children and I into every detail in way not most animated films can’t. The animation, the music, the choice of voice actors I can tell were well thought out and meticulously chosen. I couldn’t ask for a better retelling of such a story that I’m sure most families also bring out to reading during this time of the year. Bravo, I say.

If you know nothing of this story, you must rush out and see this film and also pick up the book! The written in rhyme story is of a friendly ginger haired witch and her amusing Tabby cat whom meets and invites different animals such as a dog, a frog, and a bird for a ride on her broom. Well, let’s just say the witch is a bit more inviting than her cat. It was quite interesting how she met each of the different animals. The characters are a pretty interesting bunch! While on this joyful ride in the sky trouble brews when a big red dragon decides that he’s in the mood for a tasty witch to feast upon. Don’t worry though parents, it all ends well and good. The leading up to ending is quite drawing and the little ones will be on the edge of their seat seeing how these friends decide upon making the dragon leave them be! It’s cute, clean from violence, or any sort of language. It’s a film you shouldn’t have any worries about!

The film time is about 45 minutes with an additional 15 minutes of bonus feature. I like the film isn’t too long, just long enough for a short family movie time followed by discussion if so chosen or an ideal choice for when a friend visits. The extras include an Artwork Gallery, Live Performance from Julia Donaldson, & A Behind the Scenes look at the creation of the film. I personally enjoy the behind the scenes quite a bit and am glad these were included on the DVD.
