Green Toys™ Tool Set

Do you have a little one in your home that loves to pretend to fix things or likes to take things apart? If so, they’d probably love the environmentally friendly Green Toys Tool Set that comes in boy and girl friendly colors! My children both a son and daughter, ages 4 and nearly two years year have been quite taken and play with this set daily. A huge continual playability factor for any toy is always win and a by a company we already love makes that even better!

If you haven’t heard about Green Toys, you should know they are doing wonders in reducing their carbon footprint. They offer a great collection of products made in the USA that are created from food-safe recycled milk jugs that save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions!

No more worries about what your little one touches or puts in their mouth with these toys as they contain no BPA, PVC, phthalates, or external coatings. Green Toys is doing every thing they can to save energy by focusing on transportation cost even when it comes down to packaging!

Let’s talk more about the toolset! This set is made up of 15 pieces which includes a tool box, phillips screwdriver, flat screwdriver, hammer, saw, wrench, pliers, 2 two-hole connectors, 2 nails, 2 bolts, and 2 nuts. The names of each of the tools are on the tools themselves which is great for word recognition for early readers! The toolbox has premade holes that the screws and nails are designed to go into which is great for practicing those fine motor skills!

My kids have been having so much fun with this set. They even had some friends over that are the same age and all the kids were pretty much glued to playing with the tool set. I will say that the set is a bit limited. If your child likes to build a lot you want to look for something else. This set is great though for children who want to practice their hammering and screwdriver skills or just for using it for imaginative play.

The pieces in this set are very durable! I can’t see these pieces breaking easily at all. There’s no rough edges and the set looks as new today as it did two weeks ago when I presented it to my children. The set is recommend for children ages two and up.

I really like this set and it’s perfect for my little boy (turns 2 in January). The only thing I hope for is to be able to buy more nail and screw pieces because they sometimes can get misplaced!

Buy it: You can purchase the Green Toys Tool Set in Blue on Amazon.com for 21.56 or on the Green Toys Website.

Review: Green Toys™ Pizza Parlor

If you are looking for well made toys for children that have a huge continual play-ability factor , I’d like to recommend those by the company of Green Toys! We support this company 100% because they are doing wonders in reducing their carbon footprint.

This season, my son age 2 and daughter age 4 have been enjoying the Green Toys Pizza Parlor set. Imaginative play ensues every time my kids pop open the included mini size pizza box to reveal slice after slice of fun! My kids have taken turns taking orders, playing chef, deliverer, and have had great practice learning how to serve others well!

There are 27 pieces total that make up this colorfully fun set. Kids can make four individual pizza slices when playing and customize them with all sorts of toppings! Some of the toppings include red and green tomatoes, green and red peppers, cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, and onions. Pretty much everything you need to make a really good slice of pie and there’s even a handy pizza cutter to top it off!

What’s so neat about this set has to be hands down the vast variety of stack-able toppings and the fact it comes with a menu sheet for taking orders ( if your little chefs in the making run out of the order sheets, there’s a link to print out more on the Green Toys website). The pieces in this set stack meaning you can put them in whatever order you so choose and easily swap them out. They don’t per-say lock together. Locking pieces can be good and bad sometimes and with a pizza, I think it’s great that Green Toys made them just the way they did! And an added bonus is that these pieces are compatible with all other kitchen play food sets by Green Toys.

Never have a I come across a pizza set as fun, creative, or as durable! The entire set is made out of recycled plastic making it easy to clean. It’s even dishwasher safe. I’m thrilled not to have to deal with chipping paint, wood that might get old and warped after awhile, or cheap plastic. This set is recommended for children ages 24 months – 6 years. I had a play date with a few other kids to see the reactions of the children playing with the set together and it was a hit!

Green Toys offers many other wonderful products as well that are all durable, educational, engaging, interactive, and lots of fun! I encourage everyone to check them out!

Buy it: You can find the Green Toys Pizza Parlor on Amazon.com right now for $22.74 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25. This set would be wonderful well loved gift for any child. I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About Christmas! DVD

‘Twas the day before Christmas and all through the yard the Cat in the Hat and his guests partied hard. When the party was over, and the guests all departed one poor baby reindeer was left broken-hearted! Can the Cat in the Hat, Sally, Nick and the Fish help make come true little Ralph’s Christmas wish? To be with his family, in far-off Freeze-Your-Knees. Will you help see him home? Come be our guests, please!

Do you like the The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That series? We do and are excited to talk about a really fun Holiday DVD special newly offered by nCircle Entertainment. This DVD features a fun and educational story perfect to watch if you’re excited about the Christmas season with everyones favorite cat! I could go on and on about The Cat and the Hat series. A series I think is a fun and adventurous way to teach kids about the world around them scientifically.

In the The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas DVD, children can get geared up for holiday by learning about how not just people get together and travel during this time of the year but animals do as well for many different reasons.

I thought the story was great. Basically, after the Cat throws a huge Christmas Eve party, one of the animals attending accidentally forgets to get off at the right stop when riding home on the Thinga-ma-jigger. Nick and Sally take on the task of helping the lost reindeer get home. And on their journey, they meet African bush Elephants, bottlenose dolphins, and bump into the red crabs migration on Christmas Island!

My 4 1/2 daughter and nearly two year old son were certainly captivated seeing if the reindeer would make it home for Christmas. My kids quite enjoyed the songs, the story, and later were mentioning facts about some of the animals they learned about while watching! Overall,we highly recommend The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas for any home or school use (especially for preschoolers)! The DVD also has a Spanish language option to view it and run time is about an hour long.

Review: Brita Stainless Steel Pitcher

Modern, sleek, stylish, and oh so elegant is what I thought when eyes were first lain upon Brita’s Stainless Steel Pitcher. And I must state that this pitcher has exceeded anything and everything I’ve ever could have expected from water filtration system.

Let’s talk about the look of the Brita Stainless Steel Pitcher! It’s high end looks are more than just that because not only does it look great but that shiny sleek brushed stainless steel is actually finger print resistant! Yes, you heard me right, resistant from all those unsightly marks which is usually left on many stainless steel appliances that are commonly found in the kitchen. I so love this feature because as clean as I try to keep my stainless steel things, I have kids that tend to touch everything with sticky hands and nothing stays looking spotless for very long.

The shape and overall size of the pitcher doesn’t take up much space at all in my fridge. It’s capacity is a limit of 8 (8 oz. glasses). The lid itself easily locks into place and you can open the top to fill with water when needed and at the other end is the spout which lifts when you pour. It has a premium soft grip handle making it easy to hold onto when serving water to friends and family.

Another reason I like this pitcher is because it’s BPA Free! The filter completely removes copper, cadmium, mercury. It also reduces the taste and odor in chlorine that is found in some tap water. The filter is recommended to change every two months or every 40 gallons. The pitcher itself has a electronic filter change indicator to let you know when it should be changed. I don’t know about you but I think that’s a pretty handy feature considering I probably would jot down when it needed to be changed and misplace that note or just forget altogether when it was needed!

After using the Brita Stainless Steel Pitcher, my family and I have detected how different and better tasting our water has become! I imagine that using a system like this one would reduce the cost of buying as well as the waste of plastic water bottles used. I highly recommend this product for cleaner, refreshing, and better tasting water whether for at your home or for use in the office!

Buy it: You can purchase the Brita Stainless Steel Pitcher at Amazon.com right now for $47.99. It can also be found out most retailers.

Wii Game Review: Wreck-it Ralph

There’s been a huge buzz about the latest Disney Pixar movie “Wreck it Ralph” and for good reason. I myself haven’t seen it but have watched plenty or trailers and heard many great things about it. Chances are, most people have already seen the movie and are possibly thinking about getting a video game based off the film for their child during the Holiday season knowing that it’s just been released for the Wii, Nintendo DS, and the Nintendo 3Ds.

My husband and I checked out and played Wreck it Ralph on the Wii this weekend and here’s a overall take on it by each things usually looked at when purchasing most video games.

The Story:  If you are looking for the game to follow the story line of the movie itself  you won’t find that.  In fact, there really wasn’t a story line to follow at all. The game after the beginning cut scene is 8-bit and between levels you’ll see standstill pictures with text and voice.  This was a bit disappointing and there wasn’t even an ending once you beat the game.  No cutscene, no story resolution, not even a credits sequence. The whole game, also, is around two hours.

The Game Play:  There are a total of 3 worlds to explore, each with different looking maps. The general game play isn’t changed by the set dressing, aside from a minor puzzle here and there. The maps are basically designed to be jumping puzzles with minor combat tossed in. You can swap between Ralph and Felix, and have to as each has abilities to do things the other can’t. There is normally a picture on the wall so you know who to switch to, because after doing the same few things the whole game, I couldn’t possibly figure it out myself.

Music & SFX: Can we say 8-bit goodness? Yes, I have a near and dear place in my heart for hearing 8-bit video game sounds. The music I want to say was about the same every level. It was forgettable and I just wish it held a grip but it didn’t.  Also the characters voices in the background hurling insults or was that encouragement got really old after awhile.

Graphics:

The beginning intro of the game has amazing graphics, in fact the best we’ve seen on the Wii system to date. The graphics in the game play levels and menus is  8-bit art style.  It reminds me a lot of the games I played growing up and when hitting up the local arcades.  There was no lag and everything ran smoothly image wise.

 Overall Thoughts…

For a distraction for a few hours or so, we give this game out a 3 out of 5 as with most games based off movies. The game in a nutshell is a pretty simple 2-d platformer. There is an option to mix things up by switching between two characters, a few different levels, Easter eggs and trophies to collect, and the opportunity to play the game over and over again to try to unlock more goodies.

Buy it: You can purchase Wreck it Ralph for the Wii at most retail stores as well as in a variety of system versions on Amazon.com.
