Old Fashioned {DVD Review}

A romantic-drama, OLD FASHIONED centers on Clay Walsh, a former frat boy who gives up his reckless carousing and now runs an antique shop in a small Midwestern college town. There, he has become notorious for his lofty and outdated theories on love and romance as well as for his devout belief in God. When Amber Hewson, a free-spirited young woman with a restless soul, drifts into the area and rents the apartment above his shop, she finds herself surprisingly drawn to his strong faith and noble ideas, which are new and intriguing to her. And Clay, though he tries to fight and deny it, simply cannot resist being attracted to her spontaneous and passionate embrace of life. Ultimately, Clay must step out from behind his relational theories and Amber must overcome her own fears and deep wounds as the two of them, together, attempt the impossible: an “old-fashioned” and God-honoring courtship in contemporary America.

Devotions from the Garden: Finding Peace and Rest in Your Busy Life #bookreview

Devotions from the Garden: Finding Peace and Rest in Your Busy Life By Miriam Drennan is a beautiful book. I was drawn right away to this devotional because find great joy and take rest in gardening. Gardening concepts tied to scripture reading can offer one deep reflection upon the path taken in life with God. In fact, one of my favorite parables in the Bible told by Jesus is the parable of the sower also known as the parable of the soil. A garden is where humans first began fellowship with God and in knowing this I feel there’s no better a center than a garden to revolve a devotional book around.

The Beginner’s Bible: Stories About Jesus {Book Review}

The Beginner’s Bible – Stories About Jesus Board Book is a good choice for children ages 3-6 years old. This book follows the life of Jesus from his birth to the resurrection.  There are seven stories total with each ranging from 2-4 pages long. The style of the illustrations is in cartoon format with bold colors that certainly draw the eye of a young child. This book is a bit beyond my six year old daughter content wise but my four year old son has brought it over for me to read to him a few times.  He loves pointing out the stories he already knew.  I appreciate that the text was easy enough for him to understand and keep his attention.

VeggieTales: Noah’s Ark DVD {Review & Giveaway for a $10 Gift Certificate from Family}

I received a VeggieTales Noah’s Ark screener for review purposes as a Family Christian Blogger. No other compensation was received.

Noah DVD

Veggie Tales: Noah’s Ark offers this well known Bible story up in a way that one would most expect from the point of view of an incredibly imaginative cucumber. That being said, the story is elaborated upon, in which it has a side story of it’s own about one of Noah’s sons. His son is not entirely thrilled about the plan God has for them. He struggles and tries to make things happen on his own, but finally realizes in the end that God’s plans aren’t always ours and that we should trust Him with our lives fully!
