Growing in God with The Beginner’s Bible

Happy Birthday

I count it as a true blessing that The Beginners Bible has been blessing families for 25 years now! Through their material children learn about Biblical characters and about how much God loves them in a simple and easy to understand way.  I’ve been using the many resources from the Beginner’s Bible for both my kids for seven and half years now! They offer Bibles, DVDs, an App for the iPad, Activity Books, Beginner Readers, Simplified Bible Storybooks, and a website full of many free printable that can be used at home or a church classroom!

Learn, Absorb & Praise™ Classic Collection

gblogo
I was recently given the opportunity to share my thoughts upon and spread the news on a new set of  Christ centered books written specifically for children by Graham Blanchard & Callie Grant.

The Learn, Absorb & Praise™ Classic Collection has three titles which are Knowing My God: Jesus Shows Me, All of Me That You Can’t See, and Mud Puddle Hunting Day. Each of the books each have a specific purpose and come from certain lines that in different ways nurtures and has potential to grow the spiritual development of a child. This particular set is recommended for Ages 0-7 years old. My son age 4 and my daughter age 6 had benefited much from each! My aim is to have thought provoking books and those that point toward growing deeper in Christ in my home and this set certainly fits that target.

A Father’s Love {Book Review}

ADVEFATHLOVEBK

A Father’s Love is a level two I Can Read! retelling of the familiar Bible story of a father’s love for his child. This specific title is part of the I Can Read! series based on the bestselling NIV Adventure Bible. Young readers learn about how God’s love for us is never-ending through this tale that highlights the importance of family relationships and forgiveness.

My daughter was really interested in this story. She said sometimes she would rather go off and have fun instead of doing chores. Well, that’s kinda exactly what the son in this story did. He decided he wanted to go spend his inheritance and have what he thought was a lot of fun in his life. We see the consequences of his careless decisions when hard times hit and those he thought were his friends wouldn’t help him. He sees how bad his choices were in spending all he had and he returns home. My daughter thought the Dad would be upset and mad but instead saw that true love forgives just like Christ forgives us and is always there with open arms.

My six year old had no stumbling over words nor needed any help with pronunciation in reading. I like that she’s learning fundamental truths of her faith. At the end of the book there’s a page that a page that features People in Bible times. There’s a Bible verse about being lost than found along with another Bible verse area called Words to Treasure which can be used for a memory verse if so desired.

I would recommend this book! It’s a great way for a child to learn about the Bible that’s on their level. The illustrations are appealing and add well to the story and the bit at the end is a great reminder of what was just read. Good when read alone or with the whole family! Though I would recommend reading together so if your child has any questions, you are there to answer them.

Interested in Purchasing? A Father’s Love (I Can Read! / Adventure Bible) can be purchased on Amazon.com for $3.99 as of this posting.

Miracles of Jesus {Book Review}

null_jpg_9836

The Miracles of Jesus is a book that is part of the I Can Read series based on the NIV Adventure Bible. In, this collection we see not just one miracle that Jesus did but three which included The feeding of the 5,000, Jairus’ daughter, the healing of the sick woman. My 6 year old daughter is eagerly growing in her Faith and this book shows her how Jesus spread the love of God through miracles and teachings to the people. After reading this book aloud she told me that this love of God is still ever present to this day and that anyone that has faith and believes would receive it!

This is a I Can Read! level 2 reader which means children may need help with reading it. This level tends to present high interest stories for developing readers. My daughter was able to read nearly all of the stories by herself, only needing help with words like Galilee and the name of Jairus. She didn’t know the story about Jairus’ daughter but was excited to tell me she knew about Jesus feeding the people and of the woman that was sick. She also pointed out that the illustrations showed other miracles done which were of Jesus healing the blind man and helping a man that couldn’t get up walk again.

In this reader there are 32 pages. Every page features well done illustrations that aren’t goofy or over the top. The stories are broken up into just two as when Jesus is speaking with Jairus that is when the miracle of healing the sick woman happens. The book isn’t wordy and the sentences shorts. At the end of the book there’s a page that a page that features Did You know? with a short bit of information about the miracles Jesus preformed, there’s a Bible verse and an area called Words to Treasure which can be used for a memory verse if so desired.

I would recommend this book! It’s a great way for a child to learn about the Bible that’s on their level. The illustrations are appealing and add well to the story and the bit at the end is a great reminder of what was just read. Good when read alone or with the whole family! I happy my daughter was so taken with it and she thinks all kids her age should read it.

Interested in Purchasing? Miracles of Jesus (I Can Read! / Adventure Bible)can be purchased in paperback format on Amazon.com for $3.99 as of this posting.

God’s Word for Me: Favorite Bible Stories from the International Children’s Bible Review

P1150469
God’s Word For Me Bible Storybook illustrated by Marijke ten Cate and Compiled by Tana Fortner is unique to us! I’ve come across a lot of Bible Story books for my children but none quite like this. This book takes actual real Bible text from the International Children’s Bible instead of a retelling of common know stories as you would expect. I think this is wonderful because over time, children will remember the stories word for word and be memorizing the Bible as they do!

Babar on Paradise Island {Book Review}

babarisland

Babar on Paradise Island has been a fun book to read to my 3 year old son and my 5 year old daughter. I imagine it will be read many more times in the future. There’s always some sort of exciting and quite whimsical adventure going on this friendly family of elephants. I believe long time fans will enjoy this book as well as those just introduced to this lovable character and his many friends. A great choice for books to read this upcoming Summer season, for sure.
