Everyone does their Christmas gatherings different for a number of reasons. It has changed for us over the years. Sometimes we are at families homes on Christmas Day other times they are in our home. Some years we have just swapped gifts and gone out and enjoyed a holiday-themed outing. No matter how you do it, the importance is the presence of being together. This year we had my husband’s family over at our place on Christmas Eve. My family is split up and spread out far from us (North Carolina, etc) so we often don’t get to spend the holidays together but we still face time, call, and chat thanks to the internet.

Once December rolls around it’s our annual tradition to bake cookies or other goodies to share with friends, family, and among ourselves. This year the kids and I made chocolate fudge ( not pictured as it got eaten up quickly), sugar cookies, and blueberry muffins (these were amazing).
Over the weekend, we had our first snow of the year! Snow is somewhat rare in the area we are located at in Oregon. The kids were thrilled, however the snow didn’t stick around for very long. Shortly after it snowed, perhaps a few hours later, it started to melt. The melting equals my least favorite part in which not melting fast enough with freezing temperatures produces ice. Ice is scary. It makes for treacherous driving and walking around in conditions because the county, just isn’t equipped for sanding down all the roads. Basically, if you don’t have to leave the house, stay home!
