Review: Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World

As a college student he spent 16 days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a crate of canned meat. As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursued his wife for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades weren’t good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the Dean’s office for seven days until they finally let him enroll.

Bob Goff has become something of a legend, and his friends consider him the world’s best-kept secret. Those same friends have long insisted he write a book. What follows are paradigm shifts, musings, and stories from one of the world’s most delightfully engaging and winsome people. What fuels his impact? Love. But it’s not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and feelings. Bob’s love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.

When Love Does, life gets interesting. Each day turns into a hilarious, whimsical, meaningful chance that makes faith simple and real. Each chapter is a story that forms a book, a life. And this is one life you don’t want to miss.

Light and fun, unique and profound, the lessons drawn from Bob’s life and attitude just might inspire you to be secretly incredible, too.

My Thoughts…

After just recently hearing Bob Goff speak at my local church, I was excited to get my hands on this book. I was quite engaged and challenged when reading “Love Does”. I will have to admit I was in utter disbelief and shocked by such boldness and whimsical stories that Bob shared about his life (Though it was refreshing to hear an entirely different perspective on life and how we should be living it).

This book makes you think about why you are so afraid to do this or that and to stop thinking sometimes and just DO it…just like God calls us to! How did we honestly become so cowardly? This book really makes you think about the course of your life and where it could be going if you let go and let God.

This was the best book that I’ve read all year. It’s made me entirely change the way I think and how I tend to do things now. It’s thought provoking, engaging, moving, laugh out loud, and inspirational goodness all wrapped up into 224 pages. This book hands down gets five stars from me and I am recommending it to everyone I know!

Review & Giveaway: W Is for Wapiti An Alphabet Songbook

Recently, I was sent a book and CD set from The Secret Mountain to feature and share my own and my children’s thoughts upon. The book has been a delight to share with my son and daughter and we’ve read and listened to the accompany music and storybook CD several times over since received. This book brought to you by an award winning Canadian publisher is one that you must check out for yourself called “W is for Wapiti”.

W is for Wapiti is a really fun and unique story song book that features twenty-four songs written to appeal to children of all ages. The songs are based around the alphabet letters A-Z in a neat way. For instance the letter B is all about a “Itsy- Bitsy Tiny Boat” and then there’s the letter D which is a song called “Love to Dream”. The songs are all quite clever and quite catching, in my opinion.

The artwork found in the book is just darling. The picture are simple, yet very soft and the choice of watercolors was the most perfect choice! Both my children love listening to mommy and daddy read through the songs and enjoy quite a bit looking and pointing out the different things in each illustration that they see.

The CD that comes along with the book has been a favorite of my four year old daughter. The tunes are fun and my daughter has caught onto the lyrics quite easily. I think W is for Wapiti would be a wonderful addition to any home library and can also be used in a school setting as well.
