The holiday season is right around the corner, are you ready? I feel it’s important to not get lost in the hustle and bustle and to reflect on the true reason why as a Christian I celebrate this holiday. One of my favorite ways to reflect is through creating whether that be cooking, craft, drawing, or coloring!
Mom and Me: An Art Journal to Share By: Lacy Mucklow and Bethany Robertson is a great way for those that enjoy drawing to connect together. This book is designed for a mother and child to express their feelings through art side by side. Ages six through 15 seems to be the best fit, in my opinion.
Monstrous Maud: Big Fright is geared toward middle-grade readers that follows many more books in this fun literary series. Monstrous Maud is an interesting character who walks to the beat of her own drum. Advertised as a great alternative to princess-themed books, I am pleased to introduce the series to my oldest whom tends to prefer the oddball, mysterious, quirky types of characters and stories to the sparkly fashion shopping boy crazy themed titles out there often promoted for girls around her age.
Night of the Living Cuddle Bunnies by Jonathan Rosen is a spooky book full of good humor. The story is about a 12-year-old boy named Devin Dexter whose cousin thinks Devin’s new neighbor is a warlock! No one believes them because well kids make up weird stories and come to odd conclusions pretty often. Strange things are amiss like the popular for Christmas stuffed bunny toys coming to life and behaving in dangerous ways!
Benji & the 24 Pound Banana Squash is a fun book based on actual events that happened in author Alan Fox’s life when he was eight years old. The story demonstrates perseverance, love, and patience through the adventures of planting, growing, harvesting, and reaping the delicious benefits one’s hard work and curiosity.
In Sesame Street: The Messy Alphabet Book, a new personalized book on PutMeInTheStory.com, Oscar the Grouch and his Sesame Street friends teach your child their ABCs by splashing and crashing their way through the alphabet together!
