Night Night, Jungle was written by Amy Parker and illustrated by Virginia Allyn, is a sweet story that aids in lulling children to bed. This story takes place in a Jungle slowing down for the evening to rest their heads for the night ahead. The discovery of many different kinds of animal friends is a welcome surprise with the turn of every single page with this cleverly written and delightfully illustrated offering.
The Little Critter Little Blessings Collection by Mercer Meyer is wonderful. I have enjoyed this author’s work when I was a young child an am pleased that they are still offering new and relevant stories for our current generation.
Drawn in the same familiar art style and wording from the characters just like I remember it, these books have been a walk down memory lane. Nostalgia aside for myself, these stories have been an entirely new experience for my nine, seven, and nearly two-year-old. How pleased I am that they’ve come to like the same characters that drew their own mom in.
The Gospel-Centered Mom: The Freeing Truth About What Your Kids Really Need has been a breath of fresh air. This isn’t a book on how to change or shape your child or children but instead, it points us toward putting our full focus on God. In doing so, everything else falls into place as we become how God intended for us to be. In remembering as well as learning these truths and how they apply to our lives, we grow to become a Godly Christ-centered example to those around us.
100 Favorite Bible Verses for Children is a devotional book with the main goal of recognizing key scripture verses and how it can be applied to our lives. Parents and caregivers are given an excellent resource in this title as it perfectly simplifies verses through a not overly wordy explanation that young children can comprehend. Questions pondered and asked about each verse are likely to already be answered in each day’s applicable reading.
It’s a good thing to challenge your brain in different ways. If looking for a great screen-free way to do so, you may want to consider activity books. I was introduced to a collection of brain games which include Number Puzzles, Crossword Puzzles, Logic Puzzles, Word Searches, Sudoku, and Instant Brain Teasers all compiled together in the new Mind Stretcher Puzzle Book series from Reader’s Digest.
Do you or someone you know love to cook, bake, or both? I personally can’t pick one over the other! I’m constantly looking for new treats, meals, drinks, appetizers, and other delicious goodies to make for friends and family. As much and as often as I look for recipes online, I still like having cookbooks on my shelves to flip through. The more pictures to tantalize the eyes and tickle the taste buds the better and that is why I adore the Taste of Home cookbooks!
