I’m thrilled to let you know about the Psalms, Proverbs Commentary by Mark D. Futato and George M. Schwab that I’ve been using with my daily studies of Psalms.  This well written commentary is volume 7 in set of 18 others.  It includes the entire NLT text of Psalms and Proverbs as with the other volumes available.

There is a very informative introduction to each book in this commentary. I found it very useful that it mentions the known authors, date and occasion, and audience, among many other important things to take note of. You’ll learn quite a bit as this volume presents the message of each passage, as well as an overview of other issues relevant to the text.

I enjoyed delving deeper into the books that I love so dearly. I highly recommend this book to those of you wanting to dig deeper into God’s word. This would be a great resource and gift to anyone from Pastors, to people just like you and me.

NLT Life Application Bible Studies-Hebrews

978-1-4143-2564-4I have quite enjoyed using this Hebrews, NLT Life Application Bible Studies guide.  This book is wonderful whether you are on the go or are just looking to have all your information in one place. I’ve found this guide incredibly useful for myself and imagine that others will greatly benefit from it as well.

You can use this study guide for self study, a small group, or even as guide to go by at church. You can use this guide alone, or with other sorts of resources though it’s not required because I imagine that most people will get a lot of this guide as it is.

This guide is fairly simple to use. The first part of this book includes the complete text of Hebrews(NLT),  easy to understand study notes, application notes, and biblical profiles along with maps & charts as they would appear in the Life Application Study Bible.

Part 2 of this guide includes thirteen lessons to stimulate thought, discussion, and practical application. Plenty of space to right answers to the through provoking questions and special application to help you map out your own personal action plan.

Each lesson is made up of six parts:

  • Reflect
  • Read
  • Realize
  • Respond
  • Resolve
  • More

Tyndale has done a wonderful job putting together everything that someone would need to encourage one to grow in the knowledge of Scripture and to learn how to apply it to their lives.  I highly recommend this study guide to everyone and find myself very likely to pick up their other guides as well.

Hebrews, NLT Life Application Bible Studies is available for purchase at Christian book for only $6.49!

Story Time Fun Felts Review and Giveaway

can-do-toddler-felt

Recently, I was given an opportunity to review  the “Can Do Activity Book” from the company Fun Felt. I was sent this book assembled though you can purchase it pre-assembled.

I enjoyed flipping through this book last night with my 13 month old.  Throughout the eight boldly colored  pages you’ll find numerous activities to take part in.  The various scenes you’ll find in this book are;  a telephone, kitchen, farm, circus theme, toy room and a neighborhood. When we got to the kitchen page my daughter kept saying Mmmm and Yum-Yum. She also really enjoyed playing peekaboo with the baby chickens on one of the pages. She literally clapped every time the chicks came out from hiding!

This book is one of my new favorite mommy and daughter activities for the day. I can teach my daughter so many things from this book alone like lessons on getting dressed, numbers, and more! I can see myself as my daughter grows older telling her stories with the many felt objects that come with this book and I can also see my daughter telling me her own stories! This book opens world of imagination for both child and parent!

I must mention the fact that I love that this isn’t a noisy toy and that it promises to last for a good long time with it’s superb quality of felt. It’ll be great to pass this on to each of my children, and possibly even my own grandchildren one day.

Story Time Felts offers the finest in felt board stories and visual aids for learning and open ended play.  I recommend them 100% and I’ll let you know that in future, I’ll be purchasing some of the other great products that they offer. They have a very wide selection from dolls, stories, job charts, educational pieces, math games, nursery rhymes, and more! These are great for Sunday school, any public or home school classroom, libraries,  home use, and more…you name it!

God’s Little Princess Devotional Bible
By Sheila Walsh

I jumped when the opportunity to read and review God’s Little Princess Devotional Bible by: Sheila Walsh arose. I myself, have my own little princess at home and am always looking for various books and resources that encourage and highlight character traits in growing a child in the way they should go.

The format of this book is great. Each devotional begins with a Bible passage from the International Children’s Bible. Which is then followed by a couple of pages that further illustrate the story that was read.  Some stories have where a play can be acted out, a scenario that includes a multiple choice question to answer, a memory portion, song or further discussion and application of the given passage.

You’ll find nine wonderful features in this devotional: Beauty Secrets, Bible Princesses, Down in My Heart, I Adore You, My Hero, Princess Charming, Royal Truths, Take A Bow and Worthy of Love. Your little princess  can personally this Bible by adding her favorites: colors, animals, foods, toys, things-to-do, games, songs and Bible verses.

This beautifully illustrated devotional, is geared toward girls ages 4-7.  This book is a simple yet it’s a spiritually challenging read, though age appropriate. I look forward to reading this book to my own daughter, as I know it will be a good read for mom and daughter time each day. Though it’s a great devotional for your princess to read on her own and then later discuss it with the woman in their own lives.
