My one-year-old daughter is at the perfect age and stage for picture books. I like to make sure we’ve got fun, educational and because of our faith religious books for her to gaze about and listen to me read. Recently, we were introduced to Helen Dardik’s take on The Story of Noah’s Ark. This newly released picture book caught my attention and that of my youngest child right away with its fun looking vibrantly colored illustrations.
The Beginner’s Bible for Little Ones is perfect for children ages 2-4 years old. However, you can read it to children that are younger or have older children read it as well. There are eight stories taken from both the Old and New Testament of the Bible which includes; The Beginning, Noah’s Ark, The Mean Giant, Daniel and the Lions, An Angel Visits Mary, Baby Jesus is Born, Jesus Feeds Thousands, and Jesus is Alive. The stories are in a simplified format that younger children can understand before learning all the details and information about each to take to heart as they get older.
The Big Look Bible Book is geared toward babies up to children eight years old though I feel it’s best suited for babies to around age six. It’s moderate board book format meaning the pages aren’t paper but they aren’t really thick board like pages either but somewhere in the middle. The book has your general rectangular outside shape with rounded corners but on the inside, each story features its very own shaped pages. Shaped pages add a fun element to the book, in my opinion.
All Things Bright and Beautiful: Make Believe Ideas by Thomas Nelson is a sweet book. It drew my children and me in right away with its adorable imagery, cheerful colors, and glittery texture dawning not just the cover but all throughout the inner pages. It has a padded cover and even features a handle so little ones can easy carry it along with them wherever they may happen to go.
This Spring Season, my children and I have been having a lot of fun with the Storybook Gift Sets from Silver Dolphin Books. This series has taken classic children’s tales and Bible stories and created a fun hands-on approach geared toward children ages 5 and up. These sets provide kids an interactive 3-d fold open model with characters and props to reenact all their favorite parts of each story again and again. But not just that, also included in the set is a 32-page hardcover book too!
Bible Trivia, Jokes, & Fun! is a great book to keep children, pre-teens, teens, and even adults sharp on their Bible knowledge skills! It’s perfect to share with the family, among good friends, and to use in a Sunday School or youth group class. I feel the content is applicable to all but best suited for the 8-13-year-old range.
