By Stephen Elkins

About the Author
Stephen Elkins is a best-selling author, musician, and Grammy-nominated producer. He is author of the 100 Bible Stories series and Read-n-See DVD Bible. Claudine Gevry illustrator of over sixty books including “The Jesus Book”. Her whimsical style is shown throughout this book.
About the Book
The Jesus book is one of the best resources and educational guides that I’ve seen for children on the market! Author Stephen Elkins makes understanding everything we need to know about Jesus very simple by breaking it down in the following seven sections:
* Who Jesus Is
* What Jesus Did
* What Jesus Taught
* When It Happened
* Why It Happened
* How It Happened
A very useful time line is included in the When it Happened section starting the readers in Genesis and ending in John. Located in the Where it Happened section you’ll find colorfully illustrated maps that show were Jesus walked throughout his journey. In the What Jesus Taught section you’ll find that Jesus liked to minister to those around him with parables and you’ll see how he taught us to pray. In the Why and How it happened section, children will learn why Jesus was sent to save us and how it happened.
Each mini story of explanation is backed with scripture that you may choose to look up in your own Bible to show children how what they are being taught is also in the Bible. I think it’s never to early to teach children to look to the Word of God for answers that they may be seeking.
A fun thirty song filled cd by the Wonder Kids is also included featuring well loved Bible songs like Stand Up For Jesus, God is so Good, and Do Lord just to name a few of the wonderful tracks.
Stephen Elkins has done a wonderful job with this book. Illustrator Claudine Gevry also does a great job in bringing to life each page with her colorful eye catching illustrations. The music cd is a great addition as many of the songs I grew up listening to as a child!
I am looking forward to sharing this book with my children, as I know many questions that may be asked or pondered about Jesus will be answered. This book would be great for home, church, and even school use. I give this book 5 stars!
What Is the Bible?
Author Kathleen Bostrom
Illustrator Elena Kucharik
Little Blessings question books help young children understand basic truths about the Christian life. Perfect for ages 3-6, What Is the Bible asks and answers questions about the Bible, such as: Who wrote the Bible, who is the Bible about, how do you read the Bible? Parents can use this book as a fun tool to answer questions their little ones may have about God’s Word.
You can find the 1st Chapter .PDF here.
In this book geared toward 3-6 year olds, you’ll find that answers to many questions about the Bible children commonly ask will be answered, making “What Is the Bible?” perfect for eager young minds just beginning to learn about the Word of God.
The colorful illustrations by illustrator Elena Kucharik correspond well with the story. My daughter, though to young for this book at the time enjoyed pointing out out the children and animals by name found throughout the pages. As you can see that even my 14 month old finds this book visually appealing, I’m sure older children will as well.
One of my favorite features is that at the end of the book, you’ll find a section of Bible references. These references go along with the story which was written in rhyme, an ingenoius way to help children remember what was read.
I highly recommend this book for those of you wanting to meet children on their level of learning about the Word of God. This book makes for a wonderful resource for parents, Sunday school teachers, and even grandparents.
Read and Share Toddler Bible
by Gwen Ellis
Thomas Nelson Publisher
$14.99 US/Juvenille Nonfiction
Once again, another great title by author Gwen Ellis. The Read and Share Toddler Bible is a wonderful book geared to toward infants and toddlers. This hardcover book is filled with various well-loved Bible stories from both the new and old testament. Illustrations are beautifully done by artist Steve Smallman for both the bonus DVD and the Bible story book. At the end of each story there a small tid-bit of information for parents or grandparents to encourage discussion with children of each story read.
I really enjoyed watching the DVD with my daughter this afternoon. She was captivated by each story and was paying very well attention. She would say Baby when she saw baby Moses and Jesus. She said dog when she saw the dog running around with the shepherd in the Lost Sheep story. She would also say yum yum each time characters in the various stories would eat. She was also pretty captivated by the shiny angels. Though she is a little young to understand each story, I know we’ll be reading this book and watching the wonderful bonus DVD together as she grows to understand more and more each day.
I highly recommend both the New Read and Share Toddler Bible along with the accompanying 60-minute DVD for any parent or grandparent.

MJM Books does exactly what their slogan says, ” Making Reading Fun”. I was given the opportunity to review one of their three available titles to personalize specially for my daughter Melody.
I’ve come across other children book companies where you could include your child’s name so nothing new there but MJM Books takes it to another level and has were you can also choose what the child looks like in the book! How neat is that? I found the process easy as your first select which book out of the three available that you would like to purchase. I choose the book “A Day at The Park” because my daughter loves going to the park.
I think it’s great that you can preview the entire book on the site before choosing so you know what you are getting. After selecting my book, I then choose the sex of the child to be featured in the book followed with my choice of hair color and style, skin tone and eye color. I also included a special message which is optional to add, that read “To Melody from Mommy and Daddy”. It was so simple to create this book!
It didn’t’ take long for me to receive the book at all which means the processing is extremely fast. I like fact customers can track their book order straight from the MJM Books website by simply entering their email or order number!
I was impressed highly by the quality of the book I received and I am a big fan of the brightly colored illustrations. My daughter really enjoyed me reading this book to her she giggled and looked at me each time I mentioned her name. I have no doubt that this book will become a favorite and remembered in the years to come!
MJM is commited to taking care of the environment. All of their books are printed on 100% recycled paper. Also, each book they print is one-of-a-kind, which means that they don’t have any unused or wasted inventory! I think that is wonderful because many companies out there waste a lot sending out samples to people with generic names on them.
MJM Books also contributes a portion of its volunteer time and proceeds to the non-profit, after-school tutoring program 826CHI in Chicago. 826CHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. They provide drop-in tutoring, after-school workshops, in-school tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications.
I encourage you to check out MJM customized children’s books. Each book is priced at $15.95 and if you order all three that are available, you’ll receive free shipping! http://www.mjmbooks.com/index.html

Recently, I was given an opportunity to review the “Can Do Activity Book” from the company Fun Felt. I was sent this book assembled though you can purchase it pre-assembled.
I enjoyed flipping through this book last night with my 13 month old. Throughout the eight boldly colored pages you’ll find numerous activities to take part in. The various scenes you’ll find in this book are; a telephone, kitchen, farm, circus theme, toy room and a neighborhood. When we got to the kitchen page my daughter kept saying Mmmm and Yum-Yum. She also really enjoyed playing peekaboo with the baby chickens on one of the pages. She literally clapped every time the chicks came out from hiding!
This book is one of my new favorite mommy and daughter activities for the day. I can teach my daughter so many things from this book alone like lessons on getting dressed, numbers, and more! I can see myself as my daughter grows older telling her stories with the many felt objects that come with this book and I can also see my daughter telling me her own stories! This book opens world of imagination for both child and parent!
I must mention the fact that I love that this isn’t a noisy toy and that it promises to last for a good long time with it’s superb quality of felt. It’ll be great to pass this on to each of my children, and possibly even my own grandchildren one day.
Story Time Felts offers the finest in felt board stories and visual aids for learning and open ended play. I recommend them 100% and I’ll let you know that in future, I’ll be purchasing some of the other great products that they offer. They have a very wide selection from dolls, stories, job charts, educational pieces, math games, nursery rhymes, and more! These are great for Sunday school, any public or home school classroom, libraries, home use, and more…you name it!

I indulge in the opportunity to read wonderful books. So, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I learn about new places to purchase great books for me and for my children. I nearly jumped with joy when I learned about Silver Dolphin Books.
They are worth the look see, hands down. Silver Dolphin Books publishes activity, novelty, and educational nonfiction books for preschoolers to 12-year-olds. Silver Dolphin Books is an award winning company. Several of their books have won the Parent’s Choice awards. (You can click here to see the extensive list)
Melody ( 12.5 months old) reading.
Out of Silver Dolphin’s generosity, we were able to review the Nursery Rhymes (A Nursery Collection Book) by Susie Lacome & Beth Harwood and the book Amazing Baby Go, Baby, Go! by Beth Harwood, Emma Dodd, Jonathan Lambert.
The Amazing Baby Go, Baby, Go book comes from their popular Amazing Baby series. This series has 28 titles to date its one of the largest series by Silver Dolphin for babies. My daughter enjoyed me reading this book to her. She smiled and giggled back at the brightly colored graphics and baby pictures in the book with each turning page. I as mommy loved that this book is an indestructible board book with makes it safe for reading time if I want to let her browse through the pages alone. I like also that this book is not to wordy, I’ve other baby books and my daughter loses interest quickly because I’m not turning the page quick enough when trying to read through. What makes this book fun is that at the end, there is a heart shaped photo frame where you can insert your very own picture of your Amazing Baby!
The Nursery Collection book, I can see myself pulling off the shelf for years and years to come. This book is beautifully illustrated with it’s soft pastel colored embossed pages and images. One added decorative feature I like is the ribbon tie that you can make into a bow to close the book. This book is filled with well loved nursery rhymes, fairy tales, and lullabies that we all grew up with. When reading through, I couldn’t help but remember when my mom read to me out of our own family nursery rhyme book. I’d been looking for a nursery rhyme book to add to my home library and now my search is over because this is in my mind the perfect in every way I can imagine.
Other books I’d love to add to my collection are various titles from the Wonders Inside, History in Action, and the Fine Art Studio Series! I’d really love to own all of the books they offer, I have to remind myself that money doesn’t grow on trees though all of their books are reasonably priced! Check them out for yourself at: http://www.silverdolphinbooks.com/
