Gabby God’s Little Angel {Book Review}

Gabby God’s Little angel is book written to introduce children to the concept of how God has commanded  His angels watch over us. This is done in fun light hearted way centered specifically around the biblical passage found Psalm 91:9,11 which reads “The Lord is your protection… He has put his angels in charge of you.  They will watch over you wherever you go.”

The illustration are very eye caching having rich yet soft colors. Some of the text itself stands out in whimsical way fitting perfectly in with the pictures and story itself. I can see this being fun for the story teller knowing when they should push the point or action a bit more. I think this would be a wonderful feature for pre-readers and those brand new to reading along.

The story itself is lighthearted and I see it opening the door to many questions which is a great thing in sharing your faith with a child whether your own or in a classroom setting. This book would be good for children ages 3-6 years old and I’m going to say this one will probably go over better with girls than boys.

My daughter is much like the little girl in this story, mainly fearless and acts often in a spontaneous way. Boy does Gabby the assigned guardian angel have lots of protecting to do! This is such a fun little book that I’m sure will delight a child in learning about God’s love and protection

Gabby, God’s Little Angel is the first in Shelia Waslsh’s new series. I’m excited to see what the next story is about. You can purchase this particular title at right now for11.69 and it’s eligible for free super saving shipping.

To Liv, Emma, and Jack—
Words cannot express how glad
we are that God gave us you.

To Ron and Shirley—
Who have an endless supply of love and generosity.

“Good night, sweet child,” Mama said as she tucked Little Cub in.

But Little Cub wasn’t quite ready to go to sleep.

“Mama, where did I come from?” she asked.

“From God,” her mother answered. “Your papa and I were alone, and we wanted
a baby.”

“And you got me?” Little Cub asked, her voice muffled by the covers.

“Yes, my special child. God gave us you.”

Amazing Baby: Baby, Boo! {book review}

My six month old baby boy loves the book Baby, Boo! I can see such excitement and anticipation in his expression as I read the book from the very beginning to end!  This book features colorful high contrast patterns and black-and-white photographs of other babies with all sorts of adorable expressions on their faces. It’s literally visual eye candy for  your little one and more! The book isn’t too long and it has about 5-6 words on every other page for example one page reads ” kiss,kiss, I love you” and another “wakey, wakey, sleepy baby.

One of my sons favorite pages in this book is the peekaboo mirror at the end! He loves to see his reflection and thinks it’s fun to kiss it. It always makes me giggle to see how excited he gets! This book is very durable and perfect for babies to explore. It’s not chew proof so best to keep an eye on your little one during reading time.

Due to the simplicity of this book, my three year old daughter has memorized Baby, Boo and asks to read it to her brother almost daily! I love this title and will be adding more of the Amazing Baby books to my collection. Honestly it’s no wonder that this paticular title is an award winner of the 2009 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award  and the 2009 Oppenheim Toy Portfolio SNAP Award.

So grab a window seat and enjoy the merry singalong ride!

Our Thoughts…

The Wheels on the Bus (Moving Windows) is fun book  featuring a well known classic tune that we all grew up singing! Fun features in this book include illuminated headlights and a die-cut window with a moving illustration on the cover, a button-activated music feature, and a cute pop-up at the end.

My daughter loves to sing along when this book is read or sung. There’s always a smile on her face when we go through the fun verses whether it be the windshield wipers going “Swish, swish, swish!” or the line about the babies going “Wah, wah, wah”!

Illustrations are very colorful and fun. And like the other books in the Moving Windows series, I love seeing the different races of people represented!

This book is sure to please children of all ages but recommend for those ages 3 and up. I would supervise your child with this book even though it’s partial board book the pop up and cover could easily be torn up if not careful.

Currently there five Moving Windows books available titles include Old Macdonald, Santa’s Surprise, Monster Madness, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

The Velveteen Bible {review}

About The Book…

A sweet addition to the Tommy Nelson Baby/Toddler Bible line, using an adorable image of a flocked velvet bunny.

Inspired by Baby’s First Bible with the adorable fuzzy duck cover, this new offering for little ones, The Velveteen Bible features soft fur and a fuzzy tail! Inside, the New King James Version scripture is accompanied by whimsical images of bunnies and other baby animals, colorful borders, and lovely sentiments from the scriptures. The Bible is packaged in a keepsake treasure box.

Give the Velveteen Bible as that extra special gift for baptisms, christenings, baby dedications, birthdays, or any gift-giving occasion in your little one’s life. Make it sweet by personalizing the presentation page and family record section. Your child will enjoy reading God’s word while being delighted by the adorable animals playfully decorating the full-color pages throughout.

My Thoughts…

There’s nothing like receiving your own Bible as child. I still remember receiving my own and to this very day I still  hold it near and dear. Though both my children are a bit to young for their own Bibles right now, I’m on the look out for very special ones that they can hold near and dear just like I do with my own.

I recently was given the opportunity  to review The Velveteen Bible from Tommy Nelson Publishers. And my search for my daughter’s first Bible is now officially over. I know when she is the right age, that she’ll very much so enjoy this special Bible. This Bible is recommend for children ages 4-8 years old.

This Bible is not condensed in the least bit, just so people know. I thought it might have been but it’s not. The version of the Word is New King James Version which is my preferred version to read. It’s great for us that the whole family will be in the same translation when it comes to devotional time.

The words of Christ are in read and at the back of the Bible there’s a yearly reading plan which is a great addition. Included inside the Bible are beautiful illustrations that feature key verses to take to heart.

This hardcover child sized Bible comes in  a special keepsake box that has fuzzy features the same as the Bible has.

Overall I think this Bible would make a wonderful first Bible that can be treasured for a lifetime. I can’t help think that with Easter coming up soon it would be a good time to gift it in also reminding our kids why we really celebrate the holiday.

Our Thoughts…

God Gave Us So Much by Lisa Tawn Bergren is book made up of three of stories in the God Gave Us” series.  The stories included in this treasury are God Gave Us The World, God Gave Us Love, & God Gave Us Heaven. Each of the stories are illustrated beautifully with full large page spreads by illustrator Laura J. Bryant.

In this book, we are taken on a journey of learning about God’s love and care  by a little Polar Bear cub. In each of the stories you’ll find that different family members of polar bear answer the questions that are pondered by the cub. The sort of questions that are asked and answered are those that children of a young age most certainly have or will eventually have. The explanations are done extremely well so as not to confuse in any way.

God Gave Us The World talks about learned the importance truths about God and his creation in making us all different and not the same and how to celebrate those differences and care for the earth around us.

God Gave Us Love teaches us about loving each other and that the gift of love itself comes from God. Three different types of love are explained in an easy way that all children can understand.

God Gave Us Heaven has Little Cub asking what’s heaven? This book does an exceptional job in explaining a question that may sometimes be hard to explain to a child.

We are fans of Lisa Tawn Bergen over here and what a blessing this book has been to our family. I would highly recommend it! I really enjoy reading this book to my children. My daughter loves having her bedtime stories so I welcome that this book even includes a ribbon place marker so as the next time we read we can continue to the next story without losing our place!

Lisa has also written God Gave Us You, God Gave Us Two, and God Gave Us Christmas. We can’t wait to add the rest of these exceptionally well written stories to our home library.
