Our Hotel Transylvania 3 Movie Night!
It’s October and that means it’s time to start adding Halloween to our evening family movie nights! Finding this theme of movies and still being able to cater toward a 10, 7, and a 2-year-old can prove a challenge as some movies can be too babyish and others too scary not to mention that mom and dad may check out only minutes into the film! However, we’ve found that the Hotel Transylvania movies cater pretty well to the entire family!
My kids were beyond thrilled to find out we were going to be able to see the Hotel Transylvania 3 this month and the fact we got sent a movie night party pack really took the cake! We decided before we embarked on the adventure the 3rd film promised that we’d watch the first and second film again leading up to it. If you like us can do the same or have an all-day marathon party ending on the 3rd movie, I highly recommend it!
What is the Movie About?
The Drac Pack is back with HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3, which will make its debut on Digital HD September 25, and on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and DVD on October 9, just in time to for a spooky, fun, family movie night right before Halloween! This must-own family comedy, which has grossed more than $425 million in theaters worldwide to date, follows in the tradition of the blockbuster Hotel Transylvania franchise when Mavis surprises Dracula with a family voyage on a luxury, haunted monster cruise ship. Of course, the rest of the Drac Pack has to tag along, and that’s when things get a little…batty. The monsters are having a great time, indulging in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to colossus-sized buffets and exotic excursions, but then the unexpected happens when Drac falls for the ship’s mysterious (and dangerous) human captain Ericka. The third film in this family-friendly monster franchise is the best-reviewed installment and you’re invited along on the haunted cruise vacation!
The copy we got is the party addition which includes Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital. On this offering, there are 2 mini-movies, 7 Scary- oke Sing-Alongs, Lyric videos, Monster Party Activities ( like crafts, a vampire makeover how-to etc), and much more! We made a Murray lantern to add to our movie night decor which you can see in my photos! The kids have loved all the cool merchandise that was included and have been playing with it all since our watch.
The movie was a hit with my kids and I will state as mentioned above that the film is best seen in order. While some stories stand alone decently enough, there are too many mentions of things that happened before that someone never seeing the previous films might be confused about.
While there was no huge surprise or crazy twist, the storyline kept true to the series. There were no characters not being themselves in action or behavior. The jokes were moderate and I for one can appreciate that there wasn’t dumb or bodily humor ( farts) etc included all over the place.
The biggest takeaways from this film are that you can find love again, how important it is not to overwork, the importance of family time, and forgiveness. Those are some big lessons but they are all brought together in a good way.
The imagery is great. The music totally party worthy with a bit of old and new. We were pleased to hear many of the voice actors from the previous movies came back for this one.
Movie runtime is 97 minutes long. It’s not too long nor too short. It’s a perfect fit for a family/friend movie night to watch during October or on Halloween itself. They made is super easy to throw a party around the movie and that’s not something I see with most films so I really appreciate the effort they took!
Just so you know this film is available right now on digital and will be fully released on October 9th! You can pre-order it now at most places like Amazon and other retailers.
