Sneaky Blends? I have to admit I was intrigued and quite taken with the title. I have three kids. Two of which are extremely picky eaters. I’ve been sneaking vegetables into their food for awhile. Sometimes they catch it and sometimes they don’t. Smoothies have been a hit and miss. With spaghetti sauce, I can and have hidden a lot of nutritious things for them to eat. But we don’t eat spaghetti sauce all the time and I was needing new “blends” to work with to incorporate into more than just meals but snacks too.
Missy Chase Lapine provides everything you need to know about starting to create purees that you can add to numerous meals and snacks! The detail she’s goes into answering questions one would ask is key. The full-color photos, guides, tips, and facts throughout make for optimal navigation and ease of use.
There are fifteen main purees which can be used in 75 of the included recipes (gluten-free, vegetarian, and low-carb included!) in this book. Additional nutrients that aren’t just good for the body but also taste good for the things we generally would eat on a daily basis is a total win! Eating healthy without a hassle makes this a cookbook for everyone in the family. A carrot-sweet potato base can be used in everything from Bolognese to Protein Pancakes for example. Take one day to make bases and use them throughout the entire week.
There are plans for detoxing that I may look into later but it’s worth a mention if you are looking to eat healthier and cleanse your system. I’m currently nursing my baby so I’ll come back to those. Until then I’ll be whipping up dinners, desserts, shakes, and much more with all the awesome looking recipes within. I like I can incorporate so many nutrients in a delicious way. I can only trick my kids with smoothies so much plus those don’t really make for family meals very well.
Missy offers users fast, easy, and delicious recipes to get going. A healthier choice for my family without sacrificing the things we love like desserts or carbs with just a bit extra added in. I’m sold and definitely recommending this book to those with picky eaters or those just looking to make the right choices when it comes to what’s being served.
