I admit that parenting can be really hard. Some days it’s wonderful and other days I really hate it. There’s so many sources out there and everyone is willing to chime in to give advice that it’s enough to make ones head spin. David Tripp’s book “Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family” differs from the rest because it gives us advice taken straight from the gospel. Instead of scratching our heads and feeling hopeless we’ll instead be encouraged, inspired, relieved, and hopeful knowing our Father God has a plan.
This isn’t a how-to guide or a quick fix the family book but by applying the principles pointed out change will happen. This book explores the gospel and shares principles that we should be applying to our lives as a parent, if not already. Once understood, our parenting will model more grace, love, joy, and purpose. The book is written simply and it’s easy to understand. I am sure many parents will be convicted when reading though the author always approaches weighty topics with love and grace. There are fourteen chapters in this book which are;
11. False Gods
I’m still reading through this book. I’m taking my time and even re-reading a couple of chapters over again. I feel this book will change the way I parent for the better. It isn’t about the kids but it is. It makes the reader/parent look at themselves and in making changes in our lives we’ll most definitely see changes in the lives of our children. Parenting isn’t about control but about pointing children to Christ. This book is a real eye opener for the better.
