Room on the Broom DVD Giveaway
The Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler adaption from storybook to animated film is done quite well. I admit honestly that I couldn’t expect anything less from the creators of The Gruffalo and the Gruffalo’s Child. This film such as the storybook itself drew both my children and I into every detail in way not most animated films can’t. The animation, the music, the choice of voice actors I can tell were well thought out and meticulously chosen. I couldn’t ask for a better retelling of such a story that I’m sure most families also bring out to reading during this time of the year. Bravo, I say.
If you know nothing of this story, you must rush out and see this film and also pick up the book! The written in rhyme story is of a friendly ginger haired witch and her amusing Tabby cat whom meets and invites different animals such as a dog, a frog, and a bird for a ride on her broom. Well, let’s just say the witch is a bit more inviting than her cat. It was quite interesting how she met each of the different animals. The characters are a pretty interesting bunch! While on this joyful ride in the sky trouble brews when a big red dragon decides that he’s in the mood for a tasty witch to feast upon. Don’t worry though parents, it all ends well and good. The leading up to ending is quite drawing and the little ones will be on the edge of their seat seeing how these friends decide upon making the dragon leave them be! It’s cute, clean from violence, or any sort of language. It’s a film you shouldn’t have any worries about!
The film time is about 45 minutes with an additional 15 minutes of bonus feature. I like the film isn’t too long, just long enough for a short family movie time followed by discussion if so chosen or an ideal choice for when a friend visits. The extras include an Artwork Gallery, Live Performance from Julia Donaldson, & A Behind the Scenes look at the creation of the film. I personally enjoy the behind the scenes quite a bit and am glad these were included on the DVD.
