Chances are if you have crafty daughter or son, you’ve heard about or at least seen some pretty cool rubber band jewelry worn by them or possibly their peers. Rubber-band jewelry is like the new friendship bracelet that I remember making in my pre-teen to teen years. These cool accessories that can be customized in so many ways are pretty awesome and if you ask me, I don’t see them going out of style anytime soon!
Recently, I was given the opportunity to check out the craft book Totally Awesome Rubber Band Jewelry written by Colleen Dorsey and published at Design Originals. This book let me tell you, is a must have if you have or plan on gifting either a Rainbow Loom, Cra-Z-Loom, Fun-Loom, or another similar one to those to make rubber band accessories. Though if you already have one and looking for some great pattern ideas, you’ll want to grab a copy of this title.
What I love about this book is how colorful it is! Its bright, it’s cheerful, it screams fun! The full color detailed step by step instructions and diagrams are very helpful! There are 12+ original projects not found anywhere else! Some of the really fun projects include: bracelets, necklaces, body jewelry, hair accessories, and more! There’s an idea gallery can that spark a world of inspiration!
If you aren’t familiar with looms used, there’s a handy introduction page as well as a section of tip and tricks. My daughter is 5 1/2 years old and is just getting into the world of looming. We started with a very basic fishtail bracelet pattern from this book and she’s totally into it. We are excited to try some of the other projects soon such as the flower charm that can be added to headbands and clips to make some fun hair accessories!
Overall, I would highly recommend this book! It’s suggested retail price is $7.99 and that’s real steal if you ask me! Place you can find this book is at Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, Overstock.com & at Amazon.com (print & Kindle version available!). Lots of crafting fun to be had! A great gift to receive during the holidays too!
