Lost And Found {DVD Review + Giveaway!}

 Lost and Found is a movie that held the attention of my entire family from start to finish. Not often is that accomplished when you have a two year old, a five year old, and both mom and dad viewing. A film parents will enjoy just as much as the children it’s reaching often are few so I’m giving this one the highest praise possible.

Lost & Found is based on the best-selling 2005 picture book by Oliver Jeffers. The book brought to life in film isn’t exactly like it’s true story inspiration of a little boy from Ireland that managed to sneak into a zoos penguin exhibit and bring home a new friend but it’s quite inspirational. There is a boy in this story and there’s a penguin and when the penguin arrives on the little boys doorstep unexpectedly, quite the adventure begins when the boy takes it upon himself to help the penguin find his way home to the South Pole.

The characters in this film don’t talk and that’s okay. This allows for the viewer to really get engaged with the characters watching their every action and expression. There is narration done by Jim Broadbent which pipes in here and there. The music and sounds of the village, the sea, and every other little thing brings this movie to life is such marvelous way.

The visuals in this film are breathtaking. Every little detail from reflections in the windows, stylish typography on the books in the library scene by the author and illustrator of the story himself put into this movie really makes it shine. Nothing seemed out of place and everything flowed beautifully. Viewers see the insides of houses, a seaside village, the vast sea, and last but not least the south pole!

The story is about friendship and how sometimes it’s often happening when we don’t realize that it is. It teaches children the importance of how much it’s needed and how we should always help those around us out. Life can be quite the ride which is adventurously displayed in Lost & Found. Oh, and how it’s far better to embark on it with a friend!

Lost and Found is 55 minutes long and the DVD also includes a featurette. My son and daughter loved this movie and have asked to watch it several times more! When they have watched it, there’s been complete silence and full attention to the screen ( something that doesn’t happen often) My husband and I both agree that this movie is a real winner. If you are looking for truly wonderful flick for your kids to enjoy this holiday season, we’d highly recommend picking up a copy of Lost & Found!

 If interested in purchasing, you can find Lost and Found at & on for around $8.00!  I’d also recommend if you get the film you might want to check out the book too!
